Clarke tank is the go, still runs the standard shrouds.

Safari tanks replace the shroud with the tank moulding, a couple of fals and it will look shabby, they can only be bought through Yamaha dealers as there is an agreement in place with Safari.

    I’d buy from here

Good point about the tank shrouds SB ;) that agreement with the Yamaha dealers must be selective as we bought my brother in laws safari tank for his WR from a non Yamaha dealer and they got it from Safari

Still like you say the shrouds being able to be used is heaps better, my 17 litre is a Clarke and has been great and uses my shrouds

I see your new graphics at Tee n Cee bike must looking good and ready for Condo?

I bought a Clarke tank from just tanks for my 09 WR 4fiddy and havnt had a problem.

My advice would be to buy the tap as well or you will have to put the current one on in reverse so the hose runs straight.

60 klms to reserve doesnt sound right tho i used to get around 80 klms before reserve on mine.

Yeah with my standard tank I’m hitting reserve at about 65km so your getting about the same economy as me. SB and I have ran comparison fuel runs with quite different carb settings and fuel economy doesn’t change much. Some guys reckon they are getting 100km+ out of the standard tank we have never come close to this.

Clarke tank can be a bit fiddly to fit. I have installed a stud into my frame so the tank just slides over the stud, instead of trying to line a bolt up in the frame. As also stated you have to run the fuel tap reversed, to me this is no big issue as I have never needed reserve since fitting the big tank. This problem can be solved by fitting a steel frame WR450 fuel tap.

Hi guys, just orderd 2 IMS tanks from Just Gas Tanks 3.1 gallons,as far as fuel consumption goes first ride on the WR 450 I got 70 km and hit reserve, the next ride was after I had set the carb up as per Nutty Professors specs and you wouldn’t want to know I used 6.2 litres for 127 kms, single track, fire roads etc etc could not fault the bike at all. So when the tank arrives should be good for 200kms or more.

Do the IMS still require YZ shrouds?

Nutty jetting specs????? Been there, no real difference to fuel consumption, ran it on a dyno with a respectable tuner & no suprise that it was lean, with the riding I’ll be doing it was heading into piston cracking territiory.

IMS tank for the WR still requires YZ shrouds, jetting too lean did you change your pilot aiir and main air jets to suit

Ev on our bikes we are running force radiator guards the original style guards and the later more robust style guards and there is no issue with a clarke tank all fits up nicely.
