The engine certainly rings of BMW boxer. Does she have the same note as a Beemer?

The Urals were developed from an R72 BMW, so the sound is exactly like a Beemer boxer. The feel/performance is often compared to an R75/5, not that I’ve had a chance to try one of those…

I just noticed the thing is sporting Brembo brakes!! When I think of Russian made I also think Chinese made, as far as quality and price goes. They obviously are far above a Chinese product. So if it isn’t a rude question what is a rig like yours worth ride away?

My old man had one of these when I was about 12 (many moons ago  ) I started it with the wierd sideways kicker which was a bit of an achievment and rode it around the backyard for about 20 minutes. The only problem was I didnt know how I was going to stop it,and put it back the way the ol man left it. another 10 minutes later I had to stop her somehow, so I eased her up alongside the paling fence, I must have picked the only spot that had rusty nails holding the palings on and went straight thru the bloody thing with a 280 kg bloody russian monster squashing my leg on the bottom rail  Luckily the neighbor was home and helped me up. He also fixed the fence before dad got home  I ended up mowing his lawn for the next month .

I think they wouldnt be close to an R75/5 performance wise, more like a 50/5 B)

They are very slow and cruise comfortably at about 90kph on a good day.

But they apparently are fun to cruise on the back roads.

The above is my humble opinion, not intended to offend.

See the link I posted above, but they are around $15-19,000.

Quality (since 2006) has improved immensely. Brembo brake, Denso 700w alternator, Sachs shocks, quality bearings, German gears, Keihn carbs. Lots of improvement even though appearance hasn’t changed much.

They are… put a sidecar on the R75 and compare performance. I’m not trying to compare a solo to a sidecar for performance.

Not available here, but there is a solo and I think you’d find the performance very similar.

    Hi all,
very, very cool!! Love these things!!

I read a bit about them and they get solid reviews. Very rare in this country.

Ural are a fairly large Russian manufacturer. I beleive they also make the truks they race in Dakar?

The qulaity of these has apparently imrpoved greatly in the past few years, and they are forming somewhat of a real cult following. Keep us informed of the adventures

    regards,
    eurotrash
