Imagine the hillclimbing abilities with a torquey diesel engine

i remember reading something about a similar set up being ridden across oz as a trial/ prove it can be done sort of thing. but cannot remember how long ago, or where it was now
or what the base bike was before they modified it, or what engine they used :dry:May 15, 2011 at 11:55 pm #201338Its a book called “Is that thing diesel” written by Paul Carter
I’ve read it, the bike was running on used cooking oil.
He also wrote another book called “Don’t tell mum I work on the rigs she thinks i’m a piano player in a whorehouse” about his life working on oil rigs. He is a bit full of shit but I suppose he has to be to make it more interesting, just like Chopper Read.

May 16, 2011 at 1:02 am #201353not the first not even the tenth diesel powered motorcycle made…
the iron curtain countries and others had diesel bikes way back.
See every generation likes to think it is the first…..
and almost any diesel (correct me TB if I am wrong) can with little effort be made to run on other fuels
May 16, 2011 at 1:05 am #201354There’s a mob in Vic that claims to convert Holden V6 motors into diesel runners. Using the same injector technology and electronics there’s no reason why common bike engines like hondas can’t be converted to run on the oily stuff. Unfortunately single cylinder diesels are not the quietest and smoothest running engines around.

May 16, 2011 at 1:17 am #201369the kids godfather just converted his rodeo Turbo diesel to lpg mix, gets heaps good economy and has heapser more horse powers….
