Just got a press release from The Yamaha GYTR Rockstar team. It seems that things got a bit muddy at the MX nationals at Toowoomba on the weekend.
I enjoy riding in mud but this is rediculous.
(Pics compliments of Yamaha Aust.)
May 23, 2011 at 1:13 pm #201825You will never have enough tear offs when your in conditions like that.
Mud like that can change the outcome of a race and you can often end up with an unexpected winner, not me though I would be face down. :laugh:May 23, 2011 at 1:31 pm #201826That’s just rediculous, it is no fun for the riders and certainly not for the spectators. I remember watching motocross racing when I was in Indonesia, they had brought a heap of guys from Aus and NZ to put on a show for the locals and it was terrible to watch. The riders looked worse than me (no really, that bad) and were even haviung touble getting up the face of some of the bigger jumps with marshals having to push and pull them up the face. Glad I only watched it on TV, I would hate to have paid to go and see it.
May 23, 2011 at 1:40 pm #201831Jeffro, I think you will find that the same happened at this race, I have seen a pic of a mate of mine that raced on the day and he was bogged on the face of a jump.
PTW, I do believe that tear off are now banned at most race meetings now. For environmental reasons, they are still all scattered through the bush at the Hastings enduro track and they have been outlawed for a year or more there.
May 23, 2011 at 1:43 pm #201832If it’s a national event and the riders are paid by teams and sponsors. That’s thier job so harden up and ride princess. We all have to work in shitty conditions sometimes.
If it’s social riding then bail out and go to the pub. :woohoo: . If a ride turns into a bog like that then it’s not fun anymore and I’d rather go to the pub and talk about how good we could’ve been.

May 23, 2011 at 4:00 pm #201837If your talking social riding then you SHOULD consider your tracks, no-body is particularly fond of riding rutted out tracks but plenty have no problem going out and trashing them when the rain sets in.
May 23, 2011 at 4:05 pm #201827Your dead right Jeffro, I don’t mind playing in the mud but you don’t want to destroy a good trail.

Although it was pissing down, I lead the ride through trails I knew would handle the traffic in the wet.
May 23, 2011 at 7:36 pm #201845Never too wet. :woohoo:
No such thing.
I love the wetter conditions, shits on slippery dry dusty conditions. 👿
But I do agree that trail selection is the key
Most of our rides are only made of 6 or so riders so its not really an issue.
Cheers
MurphMay 23, 2011 at 7:47 pm #201828I have heard that they always over wet echo valley. The rain may just have helped them. As far as trail riding is concerned. It is too wet if you are going to damage the trail so badly that it will not recover and will erode out IMO.
May 23, 2011 at 7:59 pm #201850Actually the bottom pic looks like one of Snowy’s gullies of doom.
May 24, 2011 at 12:24 am #201846Jeez and I thought you were being nice to me cause my glasses were fogges and I couldnt see! Typical cares more for his tracks than his mates.
