Met at Woodbury Park at the back of Wyong and met up with a few faces we hadn’t seen for a long time.
Took Yaramalong Rd, Cedar Brush Ck Rd where the morning was brisk but looking to be a nice day. We turned into Murrays Run ad started down the ridge and the temperature dropped noticeably and as we snaked our way into the valley the thick pea soup fog started playing havoc with the dust on the goggles and the temp got colder. We didn’t even see any roos. Too cold for them. 3 Degs on the BMWs gauge but if felt like -3. Then onto Laguna for a fuel splash and pie n Coffee. The sun started burning the cloud away and we took off for the putty rd via the Yengo. We looked out at the lookout regrouped halfway and took off again only to find TB’s Chain lube had escaped the saddle bag, and 2ks further Llewdaert’s Bag had fallen off the back of the big Suzuki. Lotsa had a memorable next 5 km lugging the bag on his lap trying till we caught up. We caught up in a spot where it looked like someone had freshly plowed the track with a rather large 1000cc Suzuki. As we pulled up the distinguishing sound of Scotts brake lever being snapped as it was being bent back into a usable feature. It was ok. Because he had a spare, a nice American(#$#****) had sent him the right one. It was a nice spot to stop for a while and banter well regarded. These guys on these massive adventure bikes are just awesome to watch if you can keep up.

We the found the Putty road and Mick Strong Showed us the way to the old Bulga Rd which comes out at Milbroughdale. It’s a great track that runs along the ridge, very scenic and heaps of erosion humps and that’s where TB had his minor altercation with the earth. Maybe it was the take off……Maybe it was the landing……but the XT doesn’t have wings. Tryhard & I were on very nice corner with a good view when after a bit of a wait the crew rolled past with a subdued TB. A refuel and lunch at Bulga saw TB getting quite concerned with his knee & after a couple of phone calls it was decided. It took a bit to get the big fella onto the leggy Yamaha. Last we saw was TB taking off sideways out from the servo unable to put his foot onto the peg.
We new it was serious as the hospital plan went from home first to Gosford then with another attempted step changed to Netnock. He even left his hamburger and double malt milk shake untouched. Someone still has it under their armpit to keep it warm for him.
TB will have to fill you in from then on.
It took a while for the burgers to come out and about 2 seconds to stuff them into our gullets. The Coffee was the grouse as well.

Home back along the putty and down the Settelers track. We had to punt along as we were running out of time and by this stage the roos had been released out of there pens and were being very social with us. Even a wombat came out to say hello. Along the back road from Wollembi Im told there were more roos. But Lotsa and Shane will have to add to this one and I had to see just how close I could ride the 640 to that embankment drop off, another nice view. Did anyone see how much air I got from the causeway ? We went back through Murrays Run where the air was at a much more acceptable temp but at this time of day was starting to cool off again. Then rambled down into Yaramalong for more fuel for some, and dispersed home from there.

    Photos to come.

But only if you are totally happy with the idea mate

Thanks for putting the ride on gav, mick , lotsa…

Had a great time riding some new trails and getting a taste for the adventure riding stuff! I just need a comfortable seet for the 450 and I’ll be right!

Your right about those big adv bikes gav… they are awsome watching them race along the trails, if you can keep up!

To some the day up there were some great views off the side of the trails we rode, Great weather, Cold temperatures going down Murrays Run :S   , Meeting a couple of new faces , testing out my new 13ltr tank( which by the way , Think I would break the 200km mark with this type of riding! :woohoo: )!… Not so good having TB head off early after his lay down!

Look forward to the next one!!! :woohoo:

    Hello
Just a thankyou to all riders on the dualsport/duelsport ride. The ride was a hoot for me, even when I was ploughing the track with the vstrom. Sorry for the holdup it caused and extra thanks to those who helped fix the broken lever…Sorry to the american who I defamed repeatedly.
I hope TB is OK and recovering.
My r/r goes like this. The ride started with a brisk tootle down the freeway to meet n greet at Wyong. Most of the other riders seemed to be on what appeared at first to be small pumpkin seeds but later were shown to be just small. A entertaining short ride on the dirt was followed by a freezing and very foggy ride down Murrays run to Laguna. I was very cold and couldnt see jack.
The lady at Laguna seemed to take my comment about Patchouli oil as an allegation of her age, [gee I was just trying to be friendly and get a cuppa]and gave us all a laugh.
We set off back to letterboxes and up the Howes Valley trail, on one of my favourite tracks, and very suited to vstrom blasting. I tried to stick it to the boys, and was having a blast at the same time. After a stop and rest we tore off up to an intersection where a photo op was organised up the track a bit, so we staggered, and set off individually…. Turned out to be bad for me as I was then really hooting with no one holding me up, and came a nasty gutza after a big front end lose. I saw stars like in the cartoons picked the bike up and rode off. Shortly realising I had wrapped the brake lever around the footpeg and also lost my bag[thanks for recovering it ]. Support and laughs soon had me riding again but lesson learnt….
Out onto the Putty down the tar to the Milborodale trail and Tb’s nasty prang. He seemed OK, but turned out he was bad. I then proceeded to bin the vstrom again to another front end lose, this time slow and I bent the next brake lever. I had-had close to enough by then and was getting tired. The Milborodale Trail was good and bony but I was off the pace.

Into Bulga and I had one of the worst Hamburgers ever, but a couple of longnecks of old soon had me forgotten about burgers and off with the fairies. The ride up the settlers trail is also one of my favourites but I struggled all the way, the bike seemed to be slipping and I was dog tired. No more ripping along for me, just struggle struggle struggle.Everyone else seemed to be ripping. The end of the trail couldnt come soon enough for me, and the trip home was cold. 380km all round.

Even though I whinge in this r/r…. I enjoyed the ride, and would go again tomorrow. Actually Scott just called and I am goin out on the XR to Catho pub from Caves Beach right NOW.
