Leftone you are very welcome son, your antics on the big hunge were jaw dropping to watch at times bloody ripper. You do a good trail side tyre change and watching you get on and off the big girl make it all worth while  what’s doing on Moose’s causeway you didn’t mention that !!

    Talk during the week mate

   Oops! Ran out of talent eh! I bit slippery those causeways. And I really felt like a quick dip first up in the morning with about 400km to ride. Especially after we were all warned!  No harm done just a little pride. Thanks to Boulder, Krusty and Gaz for your help too.;)

Never gas a 600 across Moose’s causeway!! The big XR will make you pay…… Of all the km’s I have ridden with Moose, that causeway crash was the most rediculous crash I have ever seen him have!!

    All concerned,

I had an absolute pissa of a weekendend even though my liver did get a bit grumpy towards the end caused by lack of lubrication I guess. Anyway, I managed to handle every thing that the Boss through at me however, I did find myself sliding down along a section of track (similar to the M7) with my bike on top of me at one point. Stalled the DR in a creek crossing only because my mechanic forgot to re route my breathers into the air box. (apparently). Probably need to repack all the bags as well because the 3 seater lounge and the kitchen sink take up far to much space.

Bigs thanks to TB for putting the ride on and all that participated in it. A big thanks to Boulder for keeoing an eye on me and the Left one for getting my bike going again in the creek. A little bit sore on the right shoulder blade but I blame the bike for that when it went down on me.Wait a minute, I mean when I threw it down the track with it on top of me.

Can’t understand why my spot tracker worked better than others. It is mounted so that it is flat facing the sky, not an a bracket on an angle. Who knows maybe that’s the key to it. (Going to slow, Ha Ha, I don’t think so)

Clean the bike, service the sucker, fit the EO9’s, repack and yeh har, let’s go.

Ooops, forgot to mention my Wing man. Thanks Krusty for keeping me in line even though I caused you to go bush on a couple of occaisions due to my bike not wanting to go around corners. Bit like riding a Hog actually. Cheers mate

It was a great weekend. Started off with abit of running around to put the finishing touches on my adventure set up, and a few bits for the DR.
Rode to meet all at TB’s and was the first to arrive. Following shortly (pardon the pun  ) after was lefty, then the 400 duo Gaz and Krusty, a bit of a chin wag, a look over the set ups and Boulder arrived which was the que to gear up!!!
The quick slab to Mt Vic was fun, up the front with TB, chattin via Blue tooth. A few quick stops as we got carried away and the group got caught at some lights, and we the dirt, . Not everyone hit it as hard as i did, as i gave Boulder and i think lefty a display of the quickest ever crash after hitting the dirt, as it was approximatly 2.5 meters off the road and i binned it (in front of a rail corp dude). Yep was good to get it out of the way and boulder and i put it down to the pure power of the DR650.  That and the talent cheque i deposited didn’t clear in time and i ran out…..
After a laugh and a photo (TB is every where with that camera) we got moving again.
Alot more laughing via the blue tooth and a failure report we popped back on to the slab. Not for too long though, but enough time for me to regather as i was very embarressed………
We hit some more railway service track, which was a great way for me to get use to the bike, the weight, the handling etc… And i was happy overall……….With the bike n e way!!!!
Now TB will have to jump in at stages and say where we went, because it was all very new to me! We headed from Mt vic to clarence via bell, and had loads of fun. The twin tracks were tops, abit of a hick up with a tree down crossing the path but we crossed the track(at the spot where the motley crew photo was taken see above) and kept in to it!!!
Blackmans flat and ben bullen were heaps of fun, a great pace was set by TB and the DR loved it almost as much as i did.
There was a long stretch along a fence line around that area somewhere and it was tops. Flew past a snake baking in the sun which got the attention of a certain trail leader!!!! Funny stuff!!!
From there, we mad out way to capertee for a splash and dash, via the wall (dunno where that was aroung the gardens of stone i think), which was fun on a loaded bike. My attempt was in no way pretty, or spectacular but it did the job with no damage and thats enough for me.
With a quick stop at capertee with the pace up a notch to beat the light, we headed to Sofala via Razorback(again i think).
The road was skaty and wound its way down a valley and back out. It was alot of fun and the pace was still on!

    More to come!!!!

Busy busy busy is how life has been for the last couple of months so a ride was in order. Also Gaz and Deejay needed to test their ADV setups, camp, cook, get used to riding loaded bikes and test themselves
I finished Gaz’s bike during the week, wheel bearings, chain, sprockets, seal etc Not the breather tubes for the carby as I was reminded 😆

Once everyone arrived we set sail for Mt Vic the start of the dirt, but just before Mt Vic is Mt Boyce. There is a sweet little 2.5kms twin track to get you wet for the rest of the ride  I tell Deejay we are turning off on the blue tooth, he says ok, drop a gear or two around the back of the rail corp ute and away we go. All I hear is the sound of a bike sliding and someone with the air rapidly coming out of him  I look in the mirror and see Deejay and the brand new DR sliding under the trees :pinch: I ask over the blue tooth are you ok, he replies with a very embarrassed “yeah  ” So I spin around laughing and shoot the shot

    P9170291640x480-2.jpg

Got the little guy up, and away we went, we took the twin trails via the service line tracks to Bell, then the same to the old railway line east of the Zig Zag. Tree down, so over the old line it was

I was going to film Deejay but I thought it was going to fall over and once there I helped everyone

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRVhc3lR-ug

We had a quick breather, checked the bags etc

    P9170293640x480-2.jpg

We sooted the Black Fellows Hand trail to Wolgan Rd. This included a section of the power lines track. Time was getting away and we rode into the Garden of Stone, down the wall which I will be honest had me shitting bricks  As DJ said not pretty but we got to the bottom, after which there were a couple of corners where Boulder appeared to be picking up his bike. He had more excuses than a drunk waking up with Julia Gillard as to how he hadn’t crashed but the proof was in the looking I reckon

Again push push push, into a short single dark was coming and we needed to get to Hillend

    P9170294640x480-2.jpg

Up the railway service track into Capertee, fueled the bikes and launched to the top of Cherry tree hill, we were supposed to do the service track to Running Stream but time was getting away, we weren’t making the time I wanted to. A quick left onto Razor Back Rd, its a slippery twisty track / road into the back of the Turon into Sofala. It has no guard rail etc towards the ends with the mother of all drops !! I was Telling DJ on the bluetooth that Nick with his fear of heights would be shitting the gear   .
No time for stopping straight through Sofala, checked a camp site out west of Sofala but continued full noise for Hillend. Once in Hillend we ran into the pub for roadies

    P9170297640x480-2.jpg

I wanted to get to Long point, my brother Jack was down there waiting but it was getting dark and for reasons that are whatever I said we would go straight down to the Turon on the Bridle Trail. We got into camp just in time to pro form a quick smart setup ;)

Wood was collected, Krusty used his SAS training  and made fire. We cooked

Deejay cooking, oh he forgot his chair

    His weapon of choice

    P9170303640x480.jpg

Boulder doing what it seems him or fish do every ride, fix their bikes

    P9170310640x480.jpg

    Camp fire surround

    P9170311640x480.jpg

Boulder eating still more, he had a can of Chilli beans and a re hydrated meal

    P9170314640x480.jpg

Gaz had a lamb shank, yup  A bloody lamb shank !!

    P9170313640x480.jpg

We had a few, laughed carried on and went to bed for a 5.30 wake up and a 7am departure. 238kms covered which wasnt bad

Hey Gents!!!!! What a great ride eh! 700km in 2 days, starting at 1pm Saturday we did around 230km then restarting at around 7am Sunday and covering another 470km.
We started at TB’s meeting up with the Motley Crew! TB, Deejay, Krusty, Gaz, Boulder and Myself. We slabbed it up to Mt Victoria and then it all started :woohoo: Now you should have seen Deejay! Talk about adventure poor old mate was getting a little too close to nature, and took a little too much of my advice on board, when in doubt power out! But holy crap the DR went left, right then left again, just missing the back of a Rail Corp ute and finally came to rest in the scrub! I instantly thought shit i hope he is ok then when we found out that he was ok it was on then! Pick the DR up dust himself off and lets get on with it. ;)
Along the railway service line to Bell then Clarence, through Sofala towards Hill End. TB is the master of directions and I am sure that he will fill us in on further details on the route. I do remember the sun being really low by the time we got to Hill End and the glare was horendous. Just a tip for anyone looking at getting yellow lenses for their goggles… If there is any sign of dust on them and the sun is in your face you cannot see! They are shithouse! I would prefer a clear lense if no tinted ones were available.
We stopped at the Pub at Hill End to get some refreshments then off to camp.

    More later!

    Cheers Lefty ;)
