    just bought a 74 model xl175 as project for myself and my daughter to make a vintage flat tracker for a bit of fun a the local track

    Looks the goods. Doesn’t look like there is too much restoring to do. I wish todays bikes had that much room for acces to the engine and air filter.

    its in good nick for $450 but will pull it down and powder coat the frame
    needs a loom and battery eliminator
    and a new seat is a must as the base is cracked and rusted

    I was around n riding in 1974, i remember that modle,it sure has been striped down from stock.

    I had the next one, blue tank, that I got when it was 2yold! Rode it every day, my only form of transport.
    Had the big bore kit (205cc) and hollow exhaust.
    Many a ride home, early hours of the morning, in upper mountains
    pea soup fog on the way from Blackheath girlfriends (big boobs) back to Katoomba! Used to sit at the
    fish shop till a coal truck came past and tuck in behind, all the way to home!!

    Those were the days!

    Ride for a root, ride to work, race on sat, fast ride with the boys on sunday….. and only 1 bike!!

    I have a 1978 xl with a 23″ front wheel, if your bikes the same I found Kenda are the only people you can get a tube from and it’s worth buying a few as it’s a 6 week wait.

    not sure if it is the 23″ will have a look and stock up if it is
    realy need a new seat as the pan is stuffed on mine

    Nah Nick 23″ first appeared on the 78 XL250s (My old man had one)wernt they a great Idea! :unsure: My cousin had the 74 175 and it was bloody loud :S He could wheelstand the bloody thing a long way back in the day! My 72 DT250 would eat it though :laugh:
