    I have bought a basket case XR500. I am planning on rebuilding/restoring it over the next few months….years.
    I am chasing a few bits which are proving hard to find. If anyone has any XR500 parts they want to get rid of can you let me know.
    This is the old girl. The spare forks and frame are an 85 XR600. The forks are 43mm but have adjustable rebound damping. Are these actually 600 forks or off something else??

    Anyone??? I need a gear selector shaft. The butcher that once worked on it welded the gear lever on. Shaft is stuffed. Plus they must have not had any metric tools. Got to love burred up bolts.

    How bad is the spline on the shaft?

    Does anyone know if the spline can be recut?

    I don’t wish to dampen your spirit, but theyed be gettin a bit rare, does any of the other models fit? What shared the same cases / box internals, year and model.

    Google is probably your best bet.

    Maybe try alistar maxwell in Finley NSW. He used to have a large wrecking yard. I’ll look up his number if you like.

    I found one on eBay in the US. They appear to have used the same shaft right up to 1990 XR600. Plus XL. Got to love the net.

    Just slap an XR 650L engine in it, no one will ever know :-p

    Mrcycles must have sold out some time ago.
