So the other night I had dinner with my best friend from 27 years ago. We hadn’t seen each other in all that time, funny how things work out that as soon as word “got out” that I was buying a bike he decided to get in touch with me (he lives in Albury/Wodonga, I’m in Sydney).

We grew up riding and racing together, were both sponsored and on the same team most of the time…..anyway, after a great night drinking and telling old stories, he presents me with a DVD and says “watch this, you’re gonna love it”.

Today I load it up on my laptop and the first thing I’m presented with is “July 15 1984”, 28 years ago to the EXACT day! The DVD was the very last time I rode a dirt bike, the very last race I ever did … not sure if it makes me happy or sad right now, but I am really chuffed.

I’m the one on the Husky with open-face helmet, blue/white chest and shoulder protector. It was a three hour (video is only 8 mins, no sound, it was the 80’s, surprised there was video!!) Pony Express at the Lincoln Causeway in Albury/Wodonga … I rode solo. See if you can spot Robbie Phillis (ex road champion), Shane Claire (ex Aus speedway champion) and Brad Jones (ex V8 supercar champion).

    Hope you enjoy it.

That’s cool, thanks for sharing Razzle. My older bro used to race around NE Vic in those years too (and cousins actually). There’s a couple trophies around here. I’ll see what’s on them tomorrow.

    Redfern – Kempsey.

    Same thing ;) :S

I will say that it certainly is a real purdy moto bicycle.

Can’t wait to see it all dirty.
