Has anyone had any experience with the mid 90’s 410?

    What to look out for?

One has com e up near me, I’ve been looking at down sizing from the 640.

Seems like a good buy at under a grand. Only thing is it hasn’t been running in a while, won’t start, been sitting for a few yrs. and the owner says it has had a new cam chain tensioner fitted but still sounds like a noisy chain. However he freely admits he is not a mechanic.

    Thanks in advance. Drewpz

Honestly mate an exotic bike, not running and been sitting for a while, under a grand. All signs point to it being a lemon. I would not touch it but that’s without having seen it.
Also with the changes of ownership of the parent company parts availability may be an issue.

You’d probably have more fun getting $2000 in $5 notes and setting it on fire. Because thats the most likely scenario if you go anywhere near that bike.

On a serious note, we worked on a bunch of these in the late nineties and they were dramatic and costly then. My advice would be that your money would be better spent elsewhere.

    Thanks fellas. Much appreciated!! ;)

He is taking it to broadford this weekend to see if he can sell it at a bit more than the $895 he has it on eBay for.

    I do love the 640!

However with my ride experience / ability on hills something a little lighter may help.

Or I just need to move closer to where all he action is and practice, practice and some more practice.

Or at least get some more saddle time in some hills.
