Seriously recommend the Motul as with my experience all the Motul stuff seems goodTB
March 20, 2013 at 3:54 am #238451I’m another fan of Motul but last week I ran out of fuel out Ben Bullen way and could only get valvolene lawn mower oil at the local servo. Ran fine but the fumes dead set burnt my eyes and it smelt like crap.

On a serious note I will disclose that I sell this stuff for a living. In saying that I sell a bucket load of Motul 800 which contains an ester additive. What this does is cling to the metal parts in your engine to reduce engine wear and because of the quality of the oil it can also quite easily be run at 40:1 in the bigger capacity two strokes with no problems.March 20, 2013 at 8:56 am #238521Hey D rally I keep my bikes for a while and do many more miles and hours on them then anyone else I can think of I think I know what oil works and doesn’t. My last 3 major bikes have done over 130,000kms between them. No rebuilds no cams no failures until the Tenere shift bearing which isnt lube related. I haven’t even replaced a clutch! The XRs were raced and ridden hard as well. Have a look at the condition of the piston etc that came out of the Tenere and it was unmarked a single cylinder ridden for 50k and nearly 900hrs!
Diesel oils and gas oils maybe good but I would like to see them tested long term. I pay full retail for my Motul and am happy to as I know it does the yards for me.
The kids don’t ride their two strokes hard at all and could run outboard two stroke oil but pay cause I know it’s good.TB
