Hey Moto, you’ll have come for a ride here and Medogrocket and I will show you the type of terain that will be ridden.

We were taliking about it tonight and working out a training loop so I don’t stop every 15 min for a chat.

I’m sure you can run bark busters. You have to have a mirror, working horn and working head and tail light. Your helmet gets inspected for any type of damage.

they were picky with helmets this year, 2 mirrors required also working brake light, bikes required to meet noise reg of less then 94db if they test, all this is stated in the MA book that you get with your licence otherwise it is on the MA website,
    http://www.ma.org.au/AM/Template.cfm?Section=General_competition_rules&Template=/CM/ContentDisplay.cfm&ContentFileID=41136
club membership required, $265 currently for your licence, $550 a4de entry
If you don’t want to worry about tyres or punctures it would be best to run mooses at Sunny/Portland especially if the A4DE is run with tight trail times

    More info as requested

my crew from when i done the 4day was up untill 4am some nights working with the “ladys of the night” think he had a great time . if your bikes preped well before you go should not have to work on it much reckon crewing would be easy but a touch boreing note bring heaps of air filters maybe even cook your tucker before you go freeze it and nuke it you don t feel like cooking after riding all day

are they going to give out any information on how many special tests they are going to have and are they going to run different trail sections every day with out this information i would not bother entering after the 4day at orange with only 3 tests run twise daily and almost the same trails daily was fairly average if they do that again could be the end of it

i would imagine with Oyster bay and the central tablelands clubs being invloved the event will be much much better then Orange, I will be keeping my ears open with the boys from central to see if I can get some info, already got a hit of the final moto spot, park ferme said to be at Portland showground

    Ture TB.

Last year for medogrocket I was up early making his drinks and getting food ready. I actually made breakfast for him and drove him around so he could concentrate just on riding. He’s not the fastest bloke in the world, nore is he the slowest, but I wanted to give him the best chance to finish. Then at night we would wash and oil the air filters and get fuel ready and pack an esky for the other service crew to have for him. It’s punishing just to ride so much for 4 days.

Out at the service points I found the main issue is geting the riders to eat and drink. We would force them to drink their gatorade and endura at every stop and then feed them pieces of banana and energy bars.

I don’t want anyone to have misconceptions about being in a service crew. It is hard work if you take it serious. If anyone wants to come for a pissup, spectate and ride around that’s cool, you just can’t do it as a service crew. Medogrocket and I aready have one crew member in Donna but we will need at least one more to help and preferably someone with bike knowledge. We will be teaching Donna over the next six months and if we get enough riders to enter a team then Donna may become the team manager. There are rules and regs for the service crew as well as the rider and if caught breaking any of them the whole team is out.

I don’t want to scare anyone off, just sharing my experience from last year. I did really enjoy doing the service crew thing and at the end of the event shaking the hands of two guys that finished the A4DE.

I might of been a bit hasty with thinking about doing the 4 day. I didn’t realise how much work goes into it.

Or the expense  That would pretty much chew the entire D ride / travel budget in 4 days. I might have a bit more of a think about it before I commit.

It would be a good thing to do it though.

hay mal you looked after Medogrocket well i was happy if my service crew was at the service point at all bluged fuel one day missed one afternoon work period but ride a ktm so all was okay and only got to eat what he lefted me that i packed it was a bit streesfull but still finished.fittness is the key found the 4day got better as it went along think i got used to the 350mm ruts the bulldust and braking bumps .the main thing with the service crew is to just be there the rider can do every thing else

Yeah I have to say if i find the ride is going to be as mediocre as the Orange event I may bail and wait till the year after.

It’s a ride i really want to do but if I’m going the expense of doing it then I want it to be good fun/challenging than boring, riding the same tests and making the times by 10mins+

Good find Rocket :) The riders are capped at 350 though, if it’s anything like Yellow Mountain we stand a chance of missing out :(
