Quote:I think you’ll find 138kg is the wet weight ready to ride with 10L of fuel. Yes still heavy but I still remember on the Hill End ride after 2 days off riding when we hit some technical tracks it was the guys on the light weight 250 S/T weapons who had a cry and the heavy DRZ/XR riders lapped it up. Go figure. maybe you guys just arn’t man enough and need to pump the f#*k up.that was the best part of the ride was following a couple of old school xr600s and they were on it blocking each other and everything it was a bit whooped out to it was great :woohoo:
August 25, 2009 at 9:47 am #150111That single track would rate as some of the crappiest I have ever ridden! I didn’t enjoy it, but I guess maybe I’m spoiled from riding nice clean single more often than not! Come to think of it, it was that flogged out it was wide enough to get a 4WD down it, so it hardly rates as single track!
For those not in the know, it is one of the over-used tracks behind the Clarence motocross track or in that area anyway.
So much for this thread about the new KTMs… it was gone before it started really!
August 25, 2009 at 9:49 am #150118new KTMs ecks, they are “the phat pooh”….
my loins are stirring just thinking about them:P

Hope the light bike riders don’t complian.
August 25, 2009 at 9:53 am #150119hay ecks you don t ride a light weight 250 S/T weapon do you

August 25, 2009 at 10:01 am #150122One of the queensland/kiwis that occassionally comes down for a ride with the crew punts a full KLX650r through unltra snotty S/T like it’s a bmx bike, but then again big Bathy has insane bike skills he pivots it round on the spot 160+kgs of it with the dakar tank full, his Mum who probably pushing 60 rides a DR650 and his Dad has an XR650R as an old guys bike
. Having said that Robo67 punts that YZ125wr of his at light speed in stuff that orienteers complain is too hard to traverse, obviously it all comes back to rider at least 90%, but give the fast rider a light and responsive bike in those conditions and good chance is he’ll go quicker yet, I know i do, except I’m not quick.

So that’s only 24Kg difference or an extra 21% of the Kato’s mass again. Make the $5K seem any better?
That must be with 90% usable fuel and fluids (a new industry measure) Suzuki are calling ‘curb mass’.
If you click here the previous model was only 119Kg ‘dry weight’ http://www.suzukimotorcycles.com.au/bikes/off-road/trail-enduro/2007/dr-z400e/specifications.htmlAugust 25, 2009 at 10:02 am #150018Moto wrote:

3 services to 1 would that be a fair comparison say between a DRZ and a KTM ? at how much per litre for good oil and filters, not to mention comuting the 15 ks to work each day through the week and then take the mirrors of and still be able to go all the places the registered racing bikes can go on the weekend and yeh the $5k difference does seem pretty good to me.
my bad on the wieght difference for some unknown reason I had 119kgs in my head,,are well you get that.

You’ll keep melonhead!
So sue me, I like nice clean single, not flogged out superhighways! I thought we rode dirt bikes to get away from all that crap not to find more of it! Maybe you guys would be best if you kept your commuters to the fire trails or B roads with that nice shiny black stuff on it… what’s it called? Tar?
Me, I’ll be on my WRF in a tight little single trail with no other bikes within earshot. Just the way I like it!
