Another option we have been toying with for next year with the Over 35/45’s is 3 hours solo instead of 2. Had a couple of blokes ask me last year and not sure which way to go. Any thoughts.

Please make sure you have changed the date of the Coolatai race in June. We had a clash and had to change it. The date in the first post is correct as I have changed it.

3 hrs roy….makes the trip worth while :)

    Bol :woohoo:

I agree with Bol 3hrs Roy.

I’m looking forward to giving it another crack this year. They are good fun.

We need to entre an OBT team or something.

Remember guys you only race for 2 hours if you cross the start finish just after the two hours is up. If you go past the start finish at 1:59 you go round again. If you are like me you will then have another 30 to 40 min of racing (or 1hr if at dirtbike teritory and it is raining) . You also do a sighting lap which takes 40 or so as well. If you are really keen after that put a vest on and sweep. If that is childs play go iron man you do the math. If you think that is easy try to lap 5min slower that Chris Thomas for the whole 2 and a bit hours. Sorry I have gone soft in my older age.

Yeah it’s a pity. I think it may be a dead duck now for good or at least a while. The Tamworth club used to run it and they have run out of volunteers. Coona has just formed a club so they may be keen in the future but the only hassle is we already have 7 rounds and I don’t think anyones too keen on 8. So unless someone drops out they are out for a while to come. So never say never but don’t hold your breath either.

firstly, thanks to everyone for reminding me about being trashed by some one elses F8ck up, ;) and secondly i have actually been looking for a trasher (prob an old 250 something)to ride in the over 45 class, recon I could go for 2 hours if I can just get past the first bloody corner :(
I rode sweep at the tamworth round one year when it was at duri??? why would tamworth hold its round at bloody coona???????

Hey Bundy, do they do a junior series??

    Mick,

Just had a thought. The Armidale club has a grass track (sort of natural terrain MX) and a sprint series (enduro loop against clock, riders go out solo at minute intervals). Both of these have junior races and are also closer to you. Look here for dates http://amcc.asn.au/ .

Thanks Bundy, we might give those grass track events at Walcha a bash next year.

im thinking of doing this , 1. im not shy for a bit of a drive for a ride( hell i even drove to adelaide to buy my bike), 2. iv always wanted to race something be it a car or a bike and 3. surely i can only learn to be a better rider out of it ….?? WHY NOT!

I’m hoping to get to one or two of these events next year. Sounds like you have a good series up there Bundy.

Mal, the series is getting there. Just did some analysis on rider numbers from this year.

Uralla – 92 riders (about normal)
Bike Territory – 85 riders (down a bit due to torrential rain, people thought it was cancelled)
    Narrabri – 126 (about normal)
Inverell – 67 (low, changed date and round before was rained out)
Upper Horton – 119 (about normal)

The Moree round was rained out (track under water), rescheduled and rained out again.

We averaged 98 riders per race, so not too bad but down a bit from last year. Hoping to build on it this year.

It’s a pity numbers at Inverell were down as they just changed the track to incorporate the track used by the state round pony express series. A little tighter and more technical.
