October 25, 2012 at 11:21 am #231431Thanks for all the well wishes guys.
Day 1 was ok. The local DSE wouldn’t let the organisers use very much single track, so we had a lot of narrow and rough fire trail and a bit too much open transport I thought. There was only one single down hill that I would consider hard. A few riders walked their bikes down. 180km for the day with 5 tests. Times were loose so I had about 10min at each control to check the bike and fuel myself (endura and bananas). Not much to do at the end of day 15min work period just an air filter and general check over.
Day 2 was long and had more transport sections it seems. we did an awesome grass track t about the halfway point but there was a lot of tar to get there and back. A nice loop out the back of Nooojee made it worth the effort. 230km today. I was getting tired and a bit loose on the bike towards the end with 50km to go and made a few bad line choices in the bog holes and then we have to do 2 really hard single track tests back to back. Anyway I stayed upright all day and on my minute and changed a rear tyre.
Had a visit from MickP and Daniel from Suttos on their way down to the moto GP.
