Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Looks a bit different to the first pic you posted. She needs a bit of loving!
March 4, 2012 at 11:27 pm #217613Actually Mick after this evening and finding a bit more wrong with the XLV then we thought there may have to be a change. I need enough time to get parts which seem to be a problem  get it going and make sure its reliable which is important if I am leading  It needs a fair amount of wiring repaired and at least a fuel pump which is seized  The fuel tank has some fairly big issues and it as a weird fuel tank switch in the top of it and some wild hose routing which I don’t know what goes where as I didn’t pull it apart. I will try and track down some parts, Steve has lots of contacts so I maybe able to get it going. It needs blue slipping and rego.
Failing all that if I cant get a reliable ride from it in the time before the ride maybe I will have to get something else from the shed
Anyway the Honda first, wish me luck

March 4, 2012 at 11:32 pm #217625Doesn’t scrapheap mean theirs a chance it won’t make it and that’s the challenge ??

Yes Nick well done, you must just look silly   As the guy leading the ride, pre running the route and looging it I need a bike, you find a fuel pump for a XLV and I will ride the sucker all day everyday. I am limited for time to get it going and test it, I should have started earlier although I can leave yours in pieces and do the XLV
Nah cant find parts I have spent hrs tonight searching for one, look into it all the forums say “parts hard to come by” I figured the Super Tenere would be more in theme than my Tenere eh

Just 5 minute hunting and I found a pump that should do for your bike ,
March 4, 2012 at 11:49 pm #217629Nickj wrote:I’ve got a 1978 Honda XL250S your very welcome to borrowThe cam chain would cut the barrel in half before I got 100kms on that XL of yours I have heard it run  Again it’s just the simple thing about something reliable to lead with eh  I have sent three emails of tonight chasing parts. I maybe able to run it without the pump but figure it will only use about 3litres of fuel via gravity before the level gets lower than the carbys hence them building it with a pump
Maybe set something a little wild up tank wise, need to speak with Steve it’s not mine to cut and shut as he wants to restore it one day.
Am going to post up on a few forums to track down some partsTB
