August 30, 2011 at 12:47 pm #207888Just got a call told it will be injected and an explaination as to why it wasn’t earlier and it won’t be a lean back engine and why the carby is hard to pull out of the current model (cause it was designed for the smaller injection throttle body) it will have YZ forks etc
All will be revealed in less than two weeks can’t wait I love it
It’s all interesting eh

August 30, 2011 at 1:25 pm #207856Wonder if this will be the next ” all new” model that they will keep for the next 5 or six years. And then only come out with BOLD NEW GRAPHICS And REVISED GEAR RATIOS until the next all new one comes out. In saying that does this mean the WR will never see the laid back engine ???? Will they ever make a laid back FI 250.??? Do they plan on sending the YZ and WR in two totally different development directions. If they want to go that way, why can’t they bring out a souped up WR450R to try and take on the DRZ 400 market and bring the WR more in line with the Current RMX450. ie a MX bike with slightly modded gear ratios a light, electric start and heaps of washers in the exhaust to get it through ADR.
August 30, 2011 at 2:33 pm #207889I saw this on Thumpertalk and believe cause I want to.

“I was very skeptical of this photo when I first saw it. Now I’m not so sure. I don’t know much about photoshop, but I’m guessing it is basically a collage of multiple overlays. I have looked at this photo (a high resolution one) a number of times now and there are some things that stand out to make me think it’s legit:
1. What was the fuel tank “shopped” from? It is along the lines of the YZ tank, but taller. Definitely a small increase in capacity and not the YZ tank.
2. There is a small white plastic insert on the lower inside part of the headlight. That is not on the current headlight and may be needed to mount to an updated bottom clamp.
3. Speedo drive. Yes it’s mechanical, but the YZ does not have one and this one routes the cable behind what looks like a YZ style fork guard. This right hand fork guard is not off the current WR, looks like the YZ unit, but flares at the top to feed in the cable.
4. Check out the shadows. Would someone take the time to photoshop shadows of a speedo cable against the fork of a YZ? How about the bottom rear part of the skid plate? There is a shadow there as well that is cast from the plate against the frame. There is nothing to cast a shadow on the YZ frame. The skid plate itself is a close copy of the 2011 WR skid, but it is not the same.
5. As mentioned before, the e-start in it’s usual location is gone. Did it move to the front? Possible, there would be more room there now, but hard to tell if that is what it is.
6. If it has e-start, where’d the battery go? Not much room under that seat now with no airbox below it. The movement is to smaller, lighter, lithium. Could it now be behind the headlight? Would that explain the look of added “business” behind the headlight? Don’t laugh, I have seen photos of an XR650L with a 450X battery mounted behind the headlight and you would not be able to tell from the side.
7. The front brake line looks funny to me the way it comes up to the perch. Just an observation.
8. That taillight is not from any WR. Look at it closely and then look at the WR light again. The current WR light has the bottom black plastic portion that come further rearward. This one is more tapered and does not do that.
9. Shroud graphics look nice, kind of like the ’10 YZ, but with a little splash of white to keep it current with the ’11/’12 YZ.
10. Is it easy to photoshop something behind something else? This is just a question, but the kickstand looks like someone did a nice job if not real.”

Last year Yamaha Aust proposed renewing the ADR’d YZ250wr, and Yamaha Japan shut it down on a marketing excuse, believeing it would pull sales from the WR450, which as most of us know is a bit of saveloy, as 2T buyers are just that, and there may be a few that jumped within the blue camp, but more would jump from the Euro village.
Fat Girls and hamburgers eh TB?
is this the new “pick up” tactic?..

TBHaha sorry TB, I did pause before posting that. Not meaning to change the topic at all either. It’s a shame we are stuck with the euro bikes and would be nice if at least on Jap manufacturer still catered for us hard core (haha sure) trailriders.
Back on topic before anyone notices then…. yep too late, G’day Bruce.

I was told and stress was told, that it was run under the guise (is that a word) of a YZ only passing on what I was told right or wrong only passing it on.
But it will be injected I have been told twice today be two people
