March 24, 2013 at 12:42 am #238669Good stuff Boony, it doesn’t hurt to tank people for the support you have been given!
While we are at it, I best thank Rock Motorcycles in Port Macquarie for their donation of 5 litres of oil (we are gunna need it) and MudnTar Motorcycles from Wauchope for the snazzy set of mirrors they gave me for the old girl.
I have spent the morning tinkering with her this morning and tidied a few things up and decided I didn’t like the front tyre so I changed that as well. Now she is sitting up on the stand waiting for the other set of forks that have been serviced by Teknik to arrive. Once they are in she is ready to roll!
March 24, 2013 at 9:36 am #238671Well I have just finished the prep for being a sweep for the 2013 Scrapheap Adv Ride. I changed the springs on the 640 today after the guy who i bought it off had it sprung for a 120kg rider as I am only 68kg I thought that I would bring it back to std specs for a 75kg rider. I then got my boys to help me with the sag measurements. Fitted Michelin UHD Tubes as well as rim locks and balanced the wheels. Regreased the front caliper brake pins as they were a bit sticky. Packed the bash plate boxes with tools, tubes bolts and bits ‘n’ pieces for the trip. Wheel bearings and cush drive rubbers are new. Revised the final drive gearing with a new front and rear sprocket combo. Test Ride and all good for launch. Ordered Wolfman bags, two weeks ago, but it doesn’t seem that they will be here in time
will just have to make other arrangements.
Looking forward to it Bring it On :woohoo: :woohoo:
Got to love HID Lights

March 26, 2013 at 11:41 am #238606Been a bit quiet here sorry
Congratulations all the team members and supporters here as a team we had a target of 5K and as of tonight we were had raised $5245 :woohoo: :woohoo: which we can add to at the onsite auction. I have to pick something’s up tomorrow that I have secured from suppliers for the auction on site, riding gear (maybe even a helmet) and stuff to raise some extra. Another thing OBT do for the event is to lead the routes, sweep and support as well as raise money. Last year Deejay dug deep and ran his own car and picked up dead bikes, Boulder and Kram were the super sweeps helped by PTW at times.
The two day route there (not and easy one this year given the distance) all the fuel and food stops are done and locked in. Accommodation places that can fit and feed everyone (lunch stops etc) have been sorted just leaving the Saturday route to be sorted. The final crisis was fixed today when Mick got his forks :pinch: (thank God  ) so his second NX should be registered Mick? Updates there have been quiet of late with team NX getting two old bikes over the line has been testing at times I hear  The Wauchope crew leave tomorrow don’t you Mick? Mick has to work first even though he has the day off
The Tenere is sorted my car is being a support vehicle this year as well, car is serviced, trailer wheel bearings done trailer loaded and Salina’s directions written out (she doesn’t do my style GPS routes  ) Steve (Wolfman) Smith from Adv Moto is supplying the other official support vehicle again driving and recovering broken bikes, Steve gives bulk to this charity every year and yet never seems to get a ride himself  . Pezz today he is ready so let’s get it on.Thanks to everyone involved and an extra thanks to the people that have helped me get the final details over the line. Oh and special to Lefty sweeping on his own for the first day
Mick and another of the guys will sweep day 2 cheers guys.

March 26, 2013 at 12:26 pm #238773Was this one already posted? Dont think it has its the last one from last year
March 26, 2013 at 7:06 pm #238774I made some “minor” adjustments to the old NX last night, thanks to Nick From Teknik for rebuilding my spare set of forks, as the ones that were in the old girl were leaking pretty badly. It turns out my spare set weren’t all that flash either as someone in the past had jammed two rubber door stoppers down the tubes to give the spring a bit more pre load!
Anyhow, I got the forks in and she is ready to roll (hopefully)
Rego is sorted, I even managed to score consecutive plates for the team NX machines!
It has been a very time consuming but satisfying project, considering this is how the bike looked when I purchased it off Kram for $200 a year or two ago.
I have lost count (or don’t want to know) how much I have spent on the two NX’s to get them up to speed for this Adventure but I am sure it will work out that it has all been worth my while in the long run!
Thanks to those that helped me get them both sorted in one way or another and a huge thanks to everyone who has put their hands in their pockets and donated some hard earned for Down Syndrome NSW.
And a big Thanks to TB for sorting out a route that will no doubt be a beauty!
Cheers
