After a 30 odd year hiatus for me from Yamaha, my last Yamaha being a 1978 YZ80E I am back on the triple tuning fork brand. It seems that copy cat Chad Reed may be following suit and going back to team blue for 2014.

I hope whatever he does it gets him closer to the front than he is now.
July 12, 2013 at 7:37 am #245902Can you blame him . :cheer:
That Honda is just not doing it for him :angry:July 12, 2013 at 8:24 am #245903So far this season in MX he is consistently outside the top ten. Even on a bad day Reed is a top ten rider if not top five so something is not right in the 22 camp at the moment. Whether its the 2013 Honda or something else time will tell.
July 12, 2013 at 9:34 am #245916Maybe he has started to taper off he has been up the top end for a while.
July 12, 2013 at 9:43 am #245904Possibly Nato you can’t stay at the top forever but it was only a year ago before his crash at Spring Creek he was leading the championship and battling for the lead most weeks. To go from that to an also ran in one season is a steep taper.
Granted he finished fifth in SX

Might be something in that Scotty,,,
Dare I say that I have been thinking similar of the likes of Grabbo since his bad year last in 2012 :pinch:
Despite a cracker Dakar finish, he has struggled to hit the front again in his normal favoured events,,,,Wonder if Toby Price will have similar problems next year ????? :S
They are all proven champions without a doubt, and I am rooting for them all whatever they do, ride & achieve in the future
July 12, 2013 at 11:36 am #245905I think Grabbo’s been mentally affected by his big crash last year. He was basically split in half and then sewn back together. Can’t blame him…. Hopefully the same doesn’t happen to Toby.
July 12, 2013 at 11:45 am #245906Yeah I recon if I had an injury half as bad as these guys I would be finished with bikes for good. Although Reed didn’t sustain bad injuries from his 2011 crash you only had to watch it to know things could have ended much worse.
I hope Reed can rebuild and come back whether it be on Honda or Yamaha.
July 12, 2013 at 12:54 pm #245907all champions have a bad run due to injuries sometime in there lives but the true champions always bounce back sooner or later
July 12, 2013 at 1:33 pm #245910It’s not the Honda, honestly how much of that bike do you really think relates to a Honda? All the geometry, all the angles, rakes, linkage ratios, suspension, suspension ratios, linkages etc nothing would be unadjustable it could and I bet is adjusted to feel like any bike out there. The engine would produce the same power or more than anything else there. How long to you think Reed can stay at the top? If they didn’t lose it Jeff Ward would still be there racing Bob “Hurricane” Hannah. If its a bike thing well why isn’t Bubba still winning, THEY GET OLD :pinch:
Reeds old, sorry facts are facts it happens to us all

July 12, 2013 at 8:44 pm #245908i’m on a steep taper like Reed too
still be good to be in the top 10 in the AMA though could still scrape together a good living from that.

July 12, 2013 at 11:43 pm #245909Defiantly agree age is going to slow him down but that usually is a progressive thing. In SX he finished 5th which in the current crop of riders is very respectable. There seems to be more than just age slowing him down in MX.
There has been plenty of talk about the air fork and he’s done a few interviews where he has complained about front end feel.
Then maybe there is issues within the team or the pressure of running his own team is catching up with him. Who know but I don’t remember the last time I saw a champion such as Reed go from championship contender to back of the pack in such a short time just because of age. I guess time will tell but that is only going to see him get older.
Either way I hope if Reed is finally beginning to slow down (he been f&#king fast for a long time) he can find a competitive rider to come ride for him at 22 Motorsport. It’s kinda cool having that Ozzy connection in AMA SX/MX.
Hmmm 22 Motorsport replica, then i could get a hat, a beanie, a t-shirt, jacket……………….

Yeah can i have 2 x monster energy girls please.
Scotty you need to go the 22 race replica, i will i am just waiting for reed to switch to husqvarna and i will order up the decals, beanie, jacket and doonah
Didn’t reed go back to the old fork last year ? during the super x series ? I think he went better on the old forks for a round or two.
Its tough for the top 5 riders at the moment as villapotto is just riding at another level. If RV wasn’t there Dungey would have the outdoors all to himself.
cheers
