We Salina and I decided to give the NX 650 we bought of ebay. I picked it up in QLD, put nearly 400km on it over 3 days of riding and bought it home, changed the oil and fitted my stainless steel filter (I wont use it on my bike but on the clunker its ok)
We left home at rode out to Bilpin on the Bell road and stopped to check it over and have a drink before we went of road
Once we left the bitumen the fun started, we travelled down through the valleys at the back of Mt Wilson to the creek down the bottom, the water was so clear and would have been a great place for a swim, the cliffs and rock formations are incrediable, it was a little rough in two spots but we got through two up so its all good
We then continued on the dirt via some sort of 4×4 only recommended track up to Mt Wilson and some lookout there that the name escapes me
We rode into Bell and onto the Darlington causeway, about half way along we turned onto the old road down into the Hartley Valley, after we wandered around down there and found a nice B&B for another time we continued up Mt Victoria and onto Katoomba.
Once there we wound our way around till we found the old Catalina Park race track at the back of Katoomba, I had been there as a kid and had always wanted to find it again, here’s some photos, check the old guard railing, wooden and lined the track !!
It was here at the track, we learned that Lane and Luke!had been up to something but then had a line put through her name, why we couldnt find out?
Then we ran out of fuel, damn thing did less than 11 kms of reserve and was bone dry, wasn’t even any fuel on the other side of the tank!
I spotted a motorbike in a house garage and knocked on the door, mate hooked us up with 3 litres of two stroke go-cart fuel and of the the servo. We then rode home, i gave the old girl some herbs on the way home and it seems a real good old honest waggon
We both had a great time and will be at it again soon

Anonymousi thought yours would be bought the same
do some internet research
if not. 2nd hand big tanks seem easy to get for your model. everything is easy to get for your modelFebruary 28, 2009 at 8:19 pm #124445We ran out at 183kms, bone dry not a drop left in the tank, the dude gave us maybe 4 litres and I rode straight to the servo and added 7.9 litres? Spec says it should hold 13 litres.
What range are you getting roughly?

February 28, 2009 at 9:01 pm #124449The fun you had yesterday on that one ride, warrants what you paid for that bike. Plenty more fun to be had on the NX.

AnonymousLooks like a good ride mate. I’d like to have a bike to just cruise around town on and throw Tyne on the back

Anonymousthanks for the 21inch nx wheel mate.
i’ll go get some adventure tyres now.i reckon that we should get the same tyres so we can cover the same surfaces at the same speed.
i read in trailbike adventure magazine that dunlop rally raids are really good. they grip well, last a long time (but are noisey). the mob who said they are good are those two blokes that rode ktm990s from tassy to the top end.
looking at the tyres in google, they look very dirt biased. we plan to do mostly sealed surfaces. however we do have a set road tyres to fit when we want.
i prob should talk to the bmw dealer down the road.
do you have any ideas?
March 9, 2009 at 10:19 am #125178Nothing yet mate as far as tyres go, we have decided today to do three days at Easter and cover 600 to 800kms throughout the central west area, hillend, mudgee, oberon, hampton, bathurst, jenolon caves and Kandangra walls

Anonymousinteresting
i was over at kylied and dand’s house today. they have kylied’s brothers’ klr650 (one of the good looking newer ones) for a while. they are going to let me know when they can get out on it. (they have kids). i think they are not allowed to take it offroad though.
March 9, 2009 at 10:32 am #125182Limited off road, very limited, leaving good friday morning
