An unusual start to a days riding saw me at work at 6:30, prepping Sherco parts then begging the boilermaker to throw some silver solder at them. The fix was a success and whilst eating Bacon and egg rolls we had Mals bike back together.
With only five of us, we travelled along pretty quickly. Did all of our singles with Tim leading and me on sweeping duties.
The tunnel was deep and slippery but we had no problems getting through. Wound our way out to Amazon to where the fun really started.
Stage 1 and 2 were done with no real hassles
Tim rode the extreme variant of Stage 3 without stopping which he hadn’t done before, so he was stoked.
Stage 3 usually sorts the boys out and it didn’t fail on this occasion
Gav had a good flip and I was lucky enough to be there with the camera
Ev dropped his bike right at the top but had just about finished his clutch off getting there.
Mal was having more issues with his Sherco and it wouldn’t start when he stalled it. This time it was the battery. He carried on for little while but when he threw it away at another challenge it wouldn’t even clutch start. Gav got it going but only to have it die again so Mal rode it back to the base of the hill where he waited patiently.
The rest of us battled our way to the top where it was decided that Ev’s clutch was not fit for an assault on Congo so we did a loop around Bangalow before meeting back up with Mal.
Did our single where I watched Gav come off at a steep section but I wasn’t quick enough with the camera so I guess it never happened, Gav
Lunch at Freemans
With Mals bike needing to be clutch started it was decided that we wouldn’t do Razorback leaving us with some singles for the return trip. Tim led us up a nasty little hill where Mals bike died again. Ev took a chicken track and met us at the top. It seemed as though the magneto wasn’t charging. We ended up swaping Mals battery with mine and it got him home..
At least I had a kick starter!! Oops, I said I wasn’t going to dwell on that issue.
