OK,by the looks of things it isn’t tapered and should just slide out unless there is a bit of electolosis built up around it.I will have another look at the carby this arvo as it is still on my bench.
never seen one tapered before in a 38

yeah mate like I said I was unsure if it was tapered or not, maybe try some WD40 and some heat from a hot air gun (put a damp cloth on your floats!!)

November 3, 2009 at 10:13 pm #159438There is a flange on one end of the pin that you could most likely grab with a good pair of pliers and just wiggle the pin while pulling on it and I reckon it should come straight out.
November 4, 2009 at 1:18 am #159436thanks guys for for your help
well have not taken it off the bike yet will do later then i will pull it apart and try to get the needle and seet out to see what i looks like
November 6, 2009 at 9:22 am #159452well got some time today to get the carby off
pulled it apart and tried what you guys said about the float pivot pin and i got it out it was tapered on one side
the needle and seet looked good not stuck
so i pulled the thing to pieces and i mean the hole thing and gave it a good look over and it looks ok to me not a caby specialist by any means
tried blowing thru the fuel line but it was very hard i mean very hard but it did stop at 45 degrees so is it meant to be that hard

Grab a can of carby cleaner and blow thru all of the jets and air passages. Then get some compressed air with a nozzle and blow thru that with your compressed air.also check all your removed jets and make sure you can see daylight thru them and that they are not obstructed.
with the bowl removed and the needle and seat all back together blow thru it again with your mouth and move the floats up and down, you should be able to control the flow of air. let us know how you go

November 7, 2009 at 1:36 am #159857did all that Ollie and still hard to blow thru i tried some compressed air thru the line went thru ok going to try it back on the bike now

No seriously, have you been using fuel with ethanol in it as I had a similiar problem with my boat and was told it was caused by a reaction between the rubber in the carby and the ethanol. It apparently makes the rubber swell and decrease internal diameter of the fuel line ect hence causing a restriction in flow.
November 7, 2009 at 3:14 am #159877on most bikes carbys there is a screw on the carby bowl with a hose near it that is used to drain the carby .turn your fuel on and loosen the screw and see if you get a good flow of fuel let it run for a little if it stops you still got fuel supply problems if it keeps going its prably something else sorry i can t be of much help
November 7, 2009 at 3:17 am #159878been using caltex vortex98 dont know if that has ethanol think in mite. I changed the fuel line the last time i put the crrby back on so dont think that is the problem
November 7, 2009 at 4:04 am #159879well white rocket this carby dose not have such a screw but it dose have a nut on the bowl witch you can take out so i did what you seed with that out and fuel came out then slowed to a drip every couple of seconds is that bad
November 7, 2009 at 4:14 am #159881yep not good thats the problem not enough fuel thats why it stops when you open her up but if the fuel tap is fine and the carby is clean i don t no how to fix it i am not much help but sorry not a machanic
November 7, 2009 at 4:20 am #159882cleaned tank out and the fule tap was all good, carby is as clean as it is gonna get and blown out..
