So I’v heard a bit of a rumour that one of this sites well known XR650 pilots is leaving the BRP at home, and instead will be piloting a late model KTM300 with all the fruit, tech lube forks and all!!! Wonder if he will enjoy the ride?? Time to own up XR rider

Happy for everyone to know………….. I reckon I’ll have a great time on the 300!!

Not so happy for everyone to know……………that after over 18,500km, 1 of the 4 little aluminium casting posts on my clutch basket cracked off on Micks Birthday ride weekend. This allowed the bolt head to move out, rub on the cover plate and put magnesium shavings through the lubrication system.

I reckon a 2005 XR650R is a pretty special bit of gear that I’ll have forever, so, I’m getting it fixed properly. It has been striped and checked out. Fortunately the magnesium hasn’t done damage to gears/housings etc. The multiple filter screens and oil filter caught alot of the metal filings.
So, ……Gearbox wise – in goes new bearings/seals/gaskets. Engine wise – in goes a new timing chain, waterpump, hoses, piston/rings/bearing/gaskets/seals and x2 inlet valves in the head.

Certainly a pity to open her up………but, that’s machines for you!

Well been watching this thred with interest,,,but sadly will not be coming along. After a nasty off at the last Hamton ride,Im pretty much just geting back into it,,,still riding the old RMX,,but not up to speed for a two day ride, and not on this bike. I’v got a good 4by that I could get out there in, but it’s a wagon set up for touring, and not much space for carrying gear, other wise I would have put my hand up for a suport vehicle just to help out and to be there.
So I’l just have to settle for the ride report and pics.
So I wish everone a safe ride and a great weekend,,,,have a blast.
    Cheers Teza.

Tezza if you wish to come up for the nights festivities you are welcome mate, the new camp site is very easy to get to and find. If you have a tow bar I have a trailer at Blaxland where you will drive through to get there that you could tow up with the prizes and generator etc in it would be a big help. just drop it of on the way back, no need for an early start just grab it on you way up mid morning, interested

I reckon we will be able to fit in the prizes & gen etc in the trailer mate if necessary. I have the roofrack on top of the Cruiser too & we are towing an enclosed trailer with bikes & gear etc which I will be towing to the campsite anyway.

Wil be riding the 690 out from there, if I can stay on it after the first little run to find my riding legd again

But if Teza is free to tow your trailer up, then all the merrier!!!

C`Mon Teza, you will have a ball either way mate, it`s one NOT TO MISS, I guarantee it :)

Is Jeffro riding or driving, cause if he is driving you can ride cause, if you really want to help Beags ride your freakin bike from Capertee as we need the room  without carting your orange lemon around  The first part of the ride is the easy part and the best to get used to your bike mate ;)
Then all that extra room with your bike out of the enclosed trailer will be used for stuff

    Hi Lads,

We have had a good drop of rain in Bathurst overnight and today. Mudgee has copped a bit as well, so hopefully we will get another session Thursday or Friday to lessen the dust.

    Cheers Galey:)

I’m leaving from work at 3 on Friday arvo and was wondering if anyone was leaving from or going through Newcastle at that time, somone to follow would be good.
If I do run solo would I be best to head out through rylston instead of heading down towards Sydney?
