So I rode out this morning a 6am, very happy to be on my new bike. I had arranged to meet Krusty, Owl 02 and Owl 01 (there is a story to the Owl boys aka Bra boys aka stone masons aka well I cant say and be polite ) I fuelled up at Richmond and rode up to Kurrajong Heights lookout for some pictures and watch the sun come up over Sydney.
Soon Krusty and the Owl’s (that sounds weird I know) drove past, I chased them down passing them and motoring of in the distance to hide and repass them again and again and again until Krusty worked out it was me not someone stalking him
We got to Bell railway station
The guys suited up while Krusty started his bike to have it stop then start and stop, I noticed the intake boot to the carby loose out came the screw diver and Krusty was a happy clown
Once Owl 01 goy his retro helmet on crooked and Owl 02 was on the new DR with the Apple computer sticker on his bike
Somebody get this guy some bling
We rode over to the lost city using the route to the lost city turn we used on the Sofala ride including the whooped singles which was interesting on the Tenere with loaded panniers and all the whoops full of water
A quick captain cook at the Lost City and we left and rode to the Black Fellows hand trail cutting
I found that my rack was struggling with the weight in the panniers ( I had only loaded them to test and had been peddling it along so if something was to break it will be before a long important ride) I took my bags of and hid them in the scrub while Krusty pulled up and threw his bike on the ground. He claimed it was a stand actuation fault whatever it wasn’t the first time the bling bling whata whata bing bang 400 laid over I am told
From there the bike was so different and I was surprised at the pace it could be wheeled along but after bottoming both ends hard I decided to not ride it like the XR and wait till Tekniks wave their magic wand
We stopped at a lookout, cant remember the name
From there it was onto Capertee for fuel and down to the pub for and ale or two
Lunch was consumed chatted to some other riders there including a 74 year old bloke doing a sterling job on a Dominator with his young bloke on a KTM200 that had ridden over from Sofala.
We left and ran the railway service line all the way to Cullen Bullen Rd including the Kram crash site
I lead the boys back to the Black Fellows Hand trail, once there I refitted my panniers with some extra ocky straps to help support them and left the guys to head back to the cars. I rode over to Mal5.1’s, had some Banana bread and a smick coffee used the computer and rode on. I rode out to Tarana and had a rumski. From there up to Hampton and across to the railway service track into Mt Victoria and home. Was a little frosty here when I got home as I said I would home at 3pm not 6pm but its all good

June 5, 2010 at 9:51 pm #181113So once again the weatherman cannot get it right and was completely wrong about the days weather..
It was a cracker of a day and what a hoot!!! (o.o)
I was on the road around 6 am and caught up with the OWLs at the Caltex near Marsden Park.. Heading up through Richmond and onto Bells Line of Road coming into Kurrajong Heights TB calls to get a location.. About 10 minutes later a motor bike rider is on my ass.. They go around me and speed off.. After a few kilometers all of sudden they are behind me again.. Hmmmm… I thought well either this bloke is stalking me or its TB.. Again he blasts around me and the OWLs and zooms ahead.. Sure enough 10 minutes later same biker is on my ass again.. This time they pull up along side and give me a goofy look.. Yup its TB on the Yamaha……
We get to the Bell start point, unload, shoot the fat and off we go.. We pretty much stayed on the B-Route from the Sofala Birthday ride weaving in and out of some of the A-Route heading towards Capertee.. Ground was wet and muddy and some of the puddles were fairly deep.. Woop Woop!! :woohoo: A few stops along the way and on into Capertee to fuel up then across the road to the pub for lunch and drinks.. We killed about 2 hours drinking, eating and trying to explain the whole OWL thing to TB but he seemed not to get the humor of it.. More like not very interested I suppose……… :silly:
Then back on the bikes and a different route to Lidsdale in order to pickup the Black-fellow Hands trail.. Apparently we went along some of the A-route birthday ride and visited Krams crash site.. Ouch pretty narly ruts dude.. We made it back to the Black-fellow Hands trail to return back to Zig-Zag/Bell.. TB grabbed his hidden bags in the bush and went back out to the road to head home or so he said..
The OWL’s flew back to the nest and loaded up…….. The boys enjoyed it very much and we are discussing the next run.. I think next time we will go all the way to Kandos and go to church(Kandos Hotel) for beers and lunch…
The new whiz bang XR400 performed really well and I was pretty happy.. Standing felt pretty much the same although hugging the tank with the legs was more comfortable.. Sitting was very different and it was nice to get so forward in some of the tight turns.. Carby needs a bit of work as she consistently machine gunned back-fired on deceleration..
Great day, Great company, Great tracks, Great weather.. What more can you ask for………
We drove 177K’s round trip to ride 165 K’s round trip..
Oh and no pictures..
June 7, 2010 at 4:55 am #181114Thanks for a great day out TB and I hope to learn all of those tracks one day. Here is a pic i took which gives a glimpse of Krusty’s new bling machine (XR400-O)before he pushed it over and broke it!!!!
