Have to say that this 9 day fortnight gig sure is difficult so with time off today it was decided to head out and have a little explore to see if I could find what was on some of these roads, or if things look good, what was just off the road ……………
So it was off towards Ballimore with the aim being to just follow a few roads and look for tracks to see if anything opened up, and some things were found.
One of those side tracks led to this ……….. but didn’t want to go to much further as it looked fully private, besides there were other litte tracks off to teh side that cried ‘explore here’
And when a track says look here, you really should I reckon ……….. figure this place may be known about, but if not this may interest someone
And so it just beckoned for a little look around this place .
Now, when Google mapping a possible ride I had seen that there are a lot of small dirt roads that follow the rivers and train tracks, not right beside the track mind but just around it, so the idea was to try to follow and see what was out there and found some good little spots for the memory bank and future looks.
And an attempt at an artsy shot.
Eventually this road joined the highway and so it was east for a while, but I did have an aim in mind which was to have a look at Boomley road with the idea being to head towards Mendooran, which didn’t quite happen but still Boomley Road was good, open and fast if you wanted it.
After a while Boomley road came to an end and it was onto some tar and headed for Mendooran.
After a while the tar gave way to a very good dirt surface with some very wide and fast sections, mind you fast is relevant as for this gumby walking pace can seem fast but we did have fun avoiding the lizards, although one small sign to the side of the track did catch the attention.
And it was here where the ride came to an unplanned end.
So with the number plate missing it was roll back through the camera pics to try to identify where a pic was taken and the plate was definitely in the pic (not easy to do on a small screen camera) and then head out for a look. All to no avail and so it was off home to plan on getting a new bloody plate ……… a damn good day ended to soon I reckon
Now, somewhere in all this I also came across this little guy (video), but I just cannot recall which road
And on the positive side, when I got home the wife had decided that she wanted to go for a drive and was happy to try to find the plate ……………….. a needle in a haystack job ………………………. and we found the bloody needle so tomorrow will be refitting the somewhat modified plate :lol
So now I will just need to head out and check it out again …..

Mind you, we got lucky in finding it as it was face down and we were driving along nice and slow looking off to the side (only slow though, around 20 or so kph), when we heard us drive over metal checked the mirror in time to see a flick of yellow. Turns out we had turned it over by running over it so bloody lucky ………… and it had fallen off on the sealed stuff so it isn’t like the dirt caused it 😆
ps. If you are interested in that other place just drop a line
November 3, 2013 at 3:22 am #251288Which other place? Send me a pm. Adelyne sca is tiny.
We found a great forest out balimore way last year but our presence there was duly noticed and some further investigation showed it was a special area with no access. For anyone. Anytime. -
