    Gday guys,
The brother-in-law has just bought a 94 KTM 400 (LC4 I assume). It’s a bit rough around the edges, but seems to run ok. Is there anything we should know or should look for, other than the basic stuff you do when you buy a used bike?

I had a 99 KTM640 LC4 with fairly high k’s. Had a few bolts strip needing helicoils, but otherwise no problems. They are a pretty reliable old donk.

did this model have a cam chain or a cam belt? if it was the belt they are a pian in the arse, chain was much better.

I don’t know if it has a cam chain or belt, we haven’t opened it up yet. I took it for a quick scoot and it goes like stink. By the looks of things we might be able to get away with a service and a bit of a tidy up.
    Cheers guys
