Dakar Hill looks liek you need to ride up it, not down it!!

Thanks Kylie and Champo, I spoke with Littlekato last night and she’ll sit this one out. She was actually working anyway and would have needed to take the day off (unpaid as she’s only casual) :)

    Until the 14th Nov…..

As mentioned before, have a great ride all.

The photo of Dakar hill doesn’t look bad at all ….[/quote]

Kylie, Dakar Hill is steep and loose at the top, but only for a short section. It’s grade 3 steep.
If it was ‘Oh My God’ steep, I’d grade the ride a 4. Ask RogerDodger if it’s steep – he’ll probably have a bruise to show you. In fairness to the Dodger though he was struggling with a sore shoulder all day. Slow and steady down and there will be no prob. Those boulders actually help as the ground has been levelled where they have been placed.

Champo, I have a nice section of ST for you – grade 4. I think you’ll like it. I’ll be with the other women folk waiting for you at the end.

(WikdBeemer, don’t even think about doing the grade 4 ST – you have too nice a bike. It’s rocky and rutted. You’ll need a new set of plastics at the end of it. Only a fool would try it!)

The ride gradings have been updated since you posted this ride (which BTW wish I could go on) and the hill in question I know very well as we ride up and down it from time to time I would call a grade 3/4 going down but that’s open of course to peoples interpretation. We used that on the Christmas party morning loop last year, Gilli had to ride Beagles bike down as Beagle had been swimming laps in the big puddle and had hit the wall (and everything else in the forest from memory  ) As long as there are people there to help as I know there will be it will all be fine ;)

Picked up the prize for the Rolling Race this morning.

Deciding between a convertible and a hardtop can be a difficult decision.

    Thanks TB.

    Here are some instructions Russ:

    The Pines Camping Area

From the South (eg Sydney) take the Morriset exit from the F3 freeway, follow the signs to Cooranbong.

Turn Left at Cooranbong onto Martinsville Road (the Fire Station is on the corner).

At Martinsville, turn Left onto Watagan Road. Turns to dirt.

Follow this road to a T-intersection. Turn Right onto Watagan Forest Road.

Follow Watagan Forest Rd until you come to a sign saying The Pines on the right (it might say Old Olney Camping Area or something like that), next to a picnic area. It is at an intersection with Wollombi Forest Rd/ Walkers Ridge Rd joining from the left.

There is another entry to the parking area 200 metres further along on the right.

    Hi Austblue,

Have added you to the list.

Of course you are welcome. Unless a maximum number has been stated for a ride and that number has been reached, then all riders are welcome to put their name down.

see you at The Pines (maybe).
