DeanJuly 26, 2010 at 12:23 pm #184728Hey Mick
Looks like a nice day out. Sorry to hear about the leg. I remember a similar incident when I stuck the leg out to save a fall. I ended up with a lovely shade of purple at the back of the knee. X-ray later revealed a compression fracture on the top of my tibula. Hopefully you didnt suffer same result. Good luck with that one.
It was one greasy weekend, I think it rained every night last week and again last night. The water traps are as deep as they have been in a long time in Cowarra. The mud really greasy, you know its bad when you change to 2nd are your still not moving – a great day for compression slides.  I have to learn to loosen up in these conditions, I just hang on way to tight
I guess this is an opportunity to really get under your wife’s feet, so that she will be happy to send you out riding. 😆

July 29, 2010 at 3:37 am #184663It’s shapin up to be another wet and slippery weekend out in the bush again. I can’t wait to get out there.

RiderX thinks it is a great joke that he caught me out in one of his gully traps. We will probably head out this weekend and sure that section up with some reo or the likes,it will only get worse if something isn’t done.
Anyone that thinks I did that on purpose, should take a XR650 for a run and see how hard they are, to get out of a situation like that. :S

I know mate.
I obviously have a bit to learn about the XR650s,otherwise I wouldn’t have ridden it into a gully of no return

They are great fun to ride. I’ll often ride me mates and get it stuck somewere. That’s when i usually wanna swap back . I always like ridin with him cause it’s like havin a bit off security knowin the 650’s around, a bit like a big bro lookin out for ya.
Iv’e actually been lookin at one that’s for sale for a while now cause the missus said i can get a new bike next year, but i’m thinkin about keepin the 300 and buying the 650 instead of gettin a brand new bike. than i’ll have two bikes, but i’m a bit undecided. I might go see old mate about it this arvo.
Can’t wait for the weekend though cause i love ridin in these conditions.

It had black exell rims, stainless spokes, fmf pipe, bars and barkies on it. It just needed rego. So ya can see why i wanted it.
I’d mentioned it before on other posts and probably shoulda jumped on it earlier.
I’ll probably wait now until next year. If I keep me 300 I’ll look around for second hand xr or mabye a new Suzuki 650.
Home life is gunna change a bit next year with both sons goin to the same school which will make it easier on the Mrs and I meaning i could ride to work if I had suitable bike that could cover 15kms of bush and about 30kms of tar. That’s what I was thinkin the xr would be good for. So I’ve just gotta decide what I’m gunna do.
