AnonymousThe D pits were a hive of activity today.
The OBT super commuter needed some loven after springing a leak
Moto’s trailer needed some mods
TB’s fiddy had an oil and filter change
Moto’s bike got the valve clearances checked after a mere 7500km, good service intervals those KTM’s
My bike got the tank changed and a 13 tooth sprocket put back on
Moto arrived this morning with the trailer and Kato. We had to go and get some steel for the trailer mods and do a special mission for Kylie. When we got home TB, Beagle, Champo and Tracy were already here waiting.
We flipped Moto’s trailer over to start the mods and TB started on Beagles bike.
The trailer mods were to fit a mesh floor and mount the toolbox. Sounds easy enough but it took me all day. Might of had something to do with me being a scab and picking up a bed frame from the side of the road and telling Moto that it would be perfect for his toolbox frame. Man wasn’t I wrong. It had to be cut and shut to suit the application – and whats worse after I looked at it when I had finished, it looks crap. Sorry Moto I will fix it when I can
The floor went in a lot better and looks pretty good – least now your bike wont hit the road if it ever falls off again
I will let TB fill everyone in on Beagles bike.
September 12, 2009 at 11:42 am #152303So I travelled up to Dan’s place this morning, Beagle had told me his bike was leaking oil from cylinder head, barrel joint. I was worried that there is no oil there at that joint, its coolant and combustion. When I turned up a hung over beagle was there as was Racey Tracy and Champo. I had a look at the bike and wasn’t convinced it could be coming from where eagle thought I asked him to take it for ride so we could be sure. Champo pointed out he had dropped the bike of on Thursday as I requested so it would be cold but I explained that I had to be sure where the leak was coming from rather then going of half cocked.
When he returned I found the oil was leaking from where the auto can chain tensioner goes through the barrel (because there is oil there ) I knew there was an “o” ring there from having them apart before. I showed eagle and sent him down the road for an “o” ring (see him if you want some rings and gaskets for a KLX250)While he was gone I checked his valve clearances and ran an eye over the top end, all good.
So I checked Moto’s valve clearances, these have never been checked before, it has done around 7,000kms and all within spec, how good is that. We also got treated to some of Moto’s secret maintence tricks, check his spark plug out
And he doesn’t have a spare one. Now has funny as that is the spark plug, I did mention that for some of the bigger rides it was requested that people have a spark plug and a tube, he proudly said he doesn’t carry either, that other people will have them, if you see him stopped in the bush leave him there I say
He was a big help to Dan today, Dan toiled all day on Moto’s trailer and did a good job
Moto helping Dan
Dan going hard all day
We also had a chance to study Eagles gun gear stick setup, can anybody work out how hard it would be down shift????
I took eagles bike for a ride, I tried to do a wheelie on it and couldn’t get it to do a wheelie in 2nd gear, honest it would be the most under powered bike I have ridden that I can remember, sorry Beags
I changed the oil and filter in my bike, over filling it and making a mess
A good day was had by all I reckon

Yeah, sorry about the avocado Moto.
I did ask if everyone liked avocado but that everyone comprised of only TB and Daniel at the time.
I can’t believe that Eagle had never tried avocado before today. That’s just weird!
September 12, 2009 at 12:03 pm #152304Sounds like it was a very busy day indeed at the D’s place today and a new bike as well
How did an oil leak make Eagle think he needed new piston rings?

He saw an oil leak and thought it was coming from the barrel head area, so if we had to reseal the barrel and it was coming of it was thought that new rings would be thrown at it

I aint mechanically minded at all Beemer  ANd after the call to TB, it was decided to purchase the gaskets, rings etc to cover all bases, even had Chris` old standard barrel & piston on hand!!!
Didn`t want TB to drive up, strip it down & then find that we needed extra parts or anything  except for the O RingBetter to be over cautious and save the damage, than ride it into the ground and bugger it I reckon anyway ????
Alls good though, thanx to TB, valve clerances are good too
SO BACK ONBOARD tomorrow :woohoo:
Cheers
September 13, 2009 at 5:41 am #152305I didnt mention that I couldnt make Moto understand that certain parts of your bike cleaned with brake cleaner before using bike shine really brings it up

AnonymousIt turned out to be a great day at the D’s, I thought it would be just me, Dan and TB but there was a bit of a crew at one point.
I can’t thank Dan enough for the effort he put into sorting the trailer for me. TB wasn’t joking when he said Dan did all the work and I sat on my arse because that’s the way it was. Now I know why Dan is called the Sherpa
Thanks heaps mate, you may not be happy with the toolbox frame but it’s good enough for me.
