Got back into bikes 1.5 years ago and guess what I bought a drz 250 08i thoughtø at the time it would be good enough to get me back into riding how wrong i was it had no power and heavy talk about a learners bike it lasted me a whole month.and this is how the story goes I was putting around my local tracks (red hill) when I saw 2 blokes riding crf 450s these bike were fantastic they were going places the drz couldn’t dream of .I mean the front wheel lifted about an inch at most I think drz in general were designed around sheep farming and comuting so I had to have a crf450 now, that week I was down at the local bike shop low and behold a bloke was getting one serviced to sell 07 1200 ks. Bought it sold drz to my brother and he sold it within 2 months to some missionarys it now lives at christmas island were they should go .the crf was a greet bike but I was getting the shits with all the oil changes.I had the crf for a year with a bit of research I found my pride and joy the mighty xr650r it takes me ever where I love the beast. Stir that pot checking out

    Hi Rob
I loved my 600 but needed a smaller, lighter bike for the snotty stuff that I like to ride, wrestling a 600 after you drop it on a hill climb took it out of me ( I drop bikes a lot  ) so I got a 300 2t and haven’t looked back, if I could afford to buy all the bikes I want, the XR650r would be up around the top of my list.
I once made the mistake of judging a book by it’s cover, my first ride with old bulls was at Wauchope with Mick ( another bloody XR nut that is on this site :P ) I didn’t know anybody and we all met a mud n tar ( the local bike shop ) and there was these two guys that were on XR’s Mick and Moose, I started to wonder what the day was going to be like?????? fire trail, easy, cruisey, these all sprung to mind especially cause the weather had been crap leading up to it,
Ooohhh how I was WRONG again  that day was bloody awesome and some of the best riding I had done in a long time, we had an XR leading and an XR sweeping with everyone in the middle puffing and having a ball :woohoo:
Do yourself a favour mate and get your kinky XR loving arse up there and have a ride with those freaks :P  you will love it :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

    PTW

Ps. I have actually rounded up sheep on a drz 250, It wasn’t even a good bike for that.

Seems as though the DRZ just cut a lap as fast as a mega dollar enduro machine. Rob, maybe the problem with your DRZ was the nut that turns the throttle. :P

Ahmen to that Rocket. I don’t care what I’m riding as long as I get out to ride. Quickest bike I’ve ever ridden in the bush (not talking about firetraps here) is still my old XR250, just hold it on and shift. All 18HP of fury.
