when supersweep came past i waved him on and started up my bike to catch up and pass him back asap. as i rode off i realised, as i sat there my ‘fortune’ ‘tyre’ went flat. knowing that i would tear the valve trying to catch up i decided to chuck some inflater fixer in. it worked. poor boulder had to ride back looking for me. he is a diligent sweep. by that time i was rolling again. i think i had about 30 something psi in the tyre and i decided to leave it that way for the rest of the day to help get it to the finish. it did but i left the centre knobs along the trackMarch 23, 2009 at 10:46 am #126563champo35 wrote:

March 23, 2009 at 11:25 am #126467March 23, 2009 at 8:38 pm #126573A big thanks to everyone for making it a fun day, by far the longest ride I have done. Thanks especially to Eagle n Ash for the support role and Boulder for sweeping for the first 200 odd k’s and Yakka for the rest, well done guys. I didn’t get many photo’s, I was having too much fun riding but here are a couple I took.
March 23, 2009 at 8:43 pm #126578Not sure what I have done, I will have to work on how to post pictures.:blush:
I normally copy and paste off photobucket but can’t seem to do it here.:dry:March 23, 2009 at 9:02 pm #126579Seems to work fine Jeffro.
March 23, 2009 at 9:12 pm #126581Yeh but that’s the second attempt using the link here where you browse for the photo, so you can only put up one at a time. I will have to work out how to post multiple pictures. :unsure:
March 23, 2009 at 9:15 pm #126582When I put up multiple pics and a story, I do it in a word doc, then copy and paste the whole lot at once.
March 23, 2009 at 9:33 pm #126583I’ll give that a try.
Thanks
Here’s another one anywayMarch 23, 2009 at 9:35 pm #126584Whoops, file was too big :blink: :huh: :blush:

AnonymousOn behalf of the D’s – This was a very enjoyable ride with a great bunch of friendly people.
We started off at the Pines (Old Onley to be matter of fact) at around 7.00am and rode out to Laguna and turned left from there we made our way up into the bush to ride out to the Halfway House on the Putty Road. We fuelled the bikes and headed off to do the 100KM loop that TB had organised. It was dusty and rocky but all in all offered a fairly good, flowing combination of riding terrain with some excellent drainage humps to get a bit of air time. I should of stopped along the way to check out more of the scenery, but given that I was trying to keep up with Kamikaze Kylie and her mighty TTR I failed to do so. After we finished the 100KM loop we headed back to the Halfway House for another re-fuel and lunch. It was the first time that I have ever been to the Putty Road and can see why the people on their road toads enjoy it so much. I cannot vouch for the Harley riders on that as they always seem to look so cranky when they ride, even their pillions look the same way. I am not sure if they practice this face in the mirror pre-ride or if it just a face that you end up with when riding such a bag of poo.
After refuelling and lunching we started for home, travelling back along the same track that we used to get to the Halfway house.
With exception to the stop off at the Laguna wine bar for some liquid refreshment.After we left Laguna it was back on the trail to the Pines. The VB energy drink at Laguna really hit the spot and I was in the mood to cut loose, and I was able to have a bit of an expression session up the hill. Thankyou to all that was part of that section.
Thankyou TB for your organisational skills and for catering to all levels of riding ability. (Also thankyou for saving that special seat at the wine bar for the D’s.)
A special mention needs to be given to our sweep riders Boulder and Yakka, a well as our fast response support vehicle. Good on you Eagle and Ash for your services. I hope that you compensated your co-driver for the day Eagle. (By the way Eagle saying that payment of life experience doesn’t cut it with 9 year old girls – So my eldest daughter tells me)
Also special mention to KylieD and RaceyTracy for completing the whole ride. Good on ya’s.
Kylie wanted to do some single trail when we got back to the Pines but I rained on her parade as I had had enough for the day. Sorry Kylie
Highlights for me:
• Kylie strutting her stuff on the drainage humps;
• Jeffro showing us that teeth on rear sprockets are over rated and heavy;
• Getting some air time under the WR;
• Chicken re-engineering the front wheel on his XR (not really a highlight I suppose for Chicken, but worth mention);
• Everyone making it there and back with no mechanical or rider breakdowns, and;
• The great company of everyone.Lowpoints for me:
• Only the after getting home and finding that my arse resembled one of those cherry red arsed baboons from Africa. (Suppose I should stand more).Looking forward to the up coming Winter riding season and looking forward to riding with the Old Bulls again.

March 24, 2009 at 9:01 am #126595Just making the start was a hassle, I had to go Orange the day before for a family function and I can’t stand them :angry: (and the whole function thing lol) anyways I took the boys bikes and that meant I could spend the day in the paddock which was better then the house! :laugh: After driving out and back in the day, getting home and washing bikes etc my shoulder was giving me crap I didn’t think I would be going. I had foresaw this and arranged Chicken and although he didn’t know it Boulder for leader duties as I had maps with all the turns and kms between turns already done so basically anyone could lead if need be. Next time I may even take the maps myself as I wont need to check Dr D’s GPS to be sure, turns out I was right but that self doubt was setting in there for a spell :blink: . So I was going not going, going not going but made it much to the surprise of a couple when I pulled into the Pines.
I meet Crash, Ghost rider and DrD at the Caltex servos at Eastern Creek at 4.30 :blink: in the morning.
I then got the job of driving GR to Chickens as he had sore ribs from attempting to ring bark a tree the day before on his trusty KLX 450.
Once up to chickens we quickly left and pedaled up to the Pines to meet the group and what a group!
We got going quickly and it was a pleasant run down into Laguna Valley until we hit the fog, goggles quickly got wet, everything got wet, I took my goggles till we came out at Laguna. Turns out the water droplets had got between the 5 tear offs I had loaded and the whole set needed to be ripped of, I was not happy but that’s life:angry: :angry:
We made really good ground to the aboriginal carvings / lookout where we had a quick break and Champo’s TM had a smoke??
See the smoke?
Once we left there we really just kept at it till we meet the Putty Rd, once there we waited and waited, word came through that Chicken had zigged when he should have zagged and then did a full dirt inspection, result you ask, bent front wheel, how bent you ask, well the video doesn’t do justice but the noise it makes rubbing the fork leg does, PS Crash was behind him, the pattern starts here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2p5RtOpfQeY
I did a runner for the halfway house and told Eagle who quick as a flash was back with the trusty XR 600, hey check the photo this bike has done so many miles the thread in the case for the sump plug just plain wore out, so a cat manufactured sump plug for the dozer.
Are you going to race that??
Halfway house
We fueled up and left to complete the 120km loop back to the halfway for lunch. What a phat loop! At one stage Crash and I started to mix it up, I had pulled away on him a bit only to come around the corner to be fronted by a bulbar on a dirty big International Transtar! Fark!! Logging trucks on Sunday, that’s farked!!!The windrows have recently been graded and it was supercross city! I hit the first one, that’s OK I thought, the second one I lined up in 3rd gear again it had steep up ramp hit it and found it had been dug out behind, there was a hole you could park a car in, I smashed into the ramp leading out of the hole stayed on board but that was it as far as the shoulder went for the day
We got the group together at Raspberry junction and everybody had an experience to talk about, turns out that Yakka had pulled his signature cart wheel move for Crash, it turns out Crash was on the spot for both Chicken’s and Yakkas’s crashes, the only real crashes of the day.
Waiting at Raspberry Junction
We meet up with Eagle and arrived back at the Halfway house, only real drama was Champo who was pedaling real hard reeling me in, he had been looking down the valley and was catching me, he stopped at a gate and told me he was chasing and I was hurting, he ran out of fuel couple of kays short of the halfway house.
We had a feed, would recommend the hamburgers there, the shoulder was real sore and I wasn’t up to the return trip, but Chicken wouldn’t give me a scrap of help or sympathy so I took some pain killers and we had to head back the way we had come over from Laguna, some of the guys felt more comfortable with the track and soon they had the wicks turned up, Champo came through one of the gates lined up a windrow as speed noticed a large rock in his path way so he headed through the trees !!! All turned out ok as he reentered the track and kept up his chase of Crash and myself. Crash and I finally meet up the front and it was a long run together between turns, it was getting out of hand I feel looking back, I think we topped out at least once at around 140kph, I got away from him once and slowed and we went at it again it ended in crash over shooting a corner onto my side, but I saw the corner coming and shut it down a spilt second earlier and crossed behind him and got away.
We stopped the group for the first time in nearly 75kms and the questions about who overshot what started, then someone said who left the two black marks on the bitumen hair pin 1 km ago, we had only done 2kms of black stuff and it appears DrD couldn’t pull the Kato 300 up and speared straight ahead at the hairpin. We regrouped for the 2 kms of bitumen to the Laguna wine bar as I have heard it called lol we had a couple of beers / rums and headed back to the cars. Was good to see Dan D turn up the wick on the little 250, it was a great group, a great ride, such a good ride suited to the day and the riders.
