Thanks Guru (TB) for putting together a top days ride – all 340kms (sorry puddles for blowing smoke up TB’s dinga, but he deserves it). Boulder, you’re a ledge too for chewing dirt for most of the day. It’s reassuring to know there’s such a capable backstop taking care of everybody. Thanks also goes to the ever cheerful Eagle and his 1st class apprentice. And to everyone else too, how good is it to ride with such a courteous, co-operative and “just glad to out there and living it” like minded group of dust suckers.
    A few observations:
Chickens crash was a cracker! I’d been with him for a while, and he was riding like a demon. He was throwing the big 6hunge around like a Z50. I’m positive he was “Chicken Scrubbin’ ” (very similar to a BUBBA SCRUB – but only used when riding a 550cc+ off erosion mounds, not going into doubles, triples or tabletops!!)
It was beautiful to watch. BUT, just like Bubba Stewart – eventually it all turned to Sh!t!
He went off one mound, the rear end kicked to one side – the front wheel was too high – it made a mess of going into the second mound and resulted in a total disaster – face plant…..with his front end intgroducing itself to some local timber, which pulled the ends off x5 spokes! Resulting in the “wiggle wheel” (a new Honda invention which enables any mud, dirt or rocks to be thrown off the wheel as it shakes/vibrates/wiggles whilst rotating – I don’t think it will catch on!
End of ride – exit…..stage right.
    We missed you Chicken!

Then there was Lotsa’a endo – what a ripper. I’m glad he bailed out and landed safely! (without the bike)
Those erosion mounds were very tricky at times. You get a little complacent……you take a few at speed….land them beautifully and think you’re the “king pin”. THEN, all of a sudden…you launch off one in the standard position…….and the bloody landing zone is angling back at you like your take off ramp!!!
BANG/CRASH….the force of the landing tests all your joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons! OR you get it all wrong…..then its ENDO CITY!
As Champo says…..you just need to go faster and land further out, beyond the crap landing area.
I just haven’t got the Kahonas to float the petite little 650 as far as a guided missile TM just yet!
The Doctor has finally got his ’09 Katy 300 perculating along. Great to see. He and Champo went past me at one point, I thought I’d attach myself to the rear of their little dusty roadtrain. It was great to watch the x2 2smokers go at it for a while. Champo pulled over eventually to wait for RacyTracy. I kept on the Doctors rear guard (you either had to stay immediately behind the person in front or let them go…until their dust settled a little)
Anyhow, he thought he’d overtake Ghostrider, on the outside into a left handed and it all went “pear shaped”. He overshot and JUST pulled it up in time before a tree and a drop-off embankment. Sorry Doctor……..I was cackling like a chook.
Great to see Ghostrider out there too……he’d already been on a x2 day / 280km ride on the Fri/Sat. – top effort.
It was also good to go at it with the Guru aka TB for a while (even though he’s only playing with me and can trash me at will…..he IS the GURU.)
It was also good to meet a few more new faces in person.
Anyway, I had a great day – I really think those pivot pegz reduce the amount of foot/leg work you have to do on this style of ride.
Anyway, all the kids winter sports start this week, so I think the Caves ride will be my next big outing in the rear end of May.
That will be a great weekend, with a terrific mix of single, twin, fire trail, erosion humps and twisty dirt road with some amazing scenery to be viewed! Don’t miss it!
See you then – Thanks again everybody.

Yeah those two or 3 bursts of 5 or so minutes of madness we did was fun Crash, imagine two 650’s at full tilt coming at you as a bush walker, and then there was Champo coming hard a little way behind ! WOW!
