This is for Skyrider, wookie ordered one of these on his behalf which came in friday and he asked me to send him some information on what it was he actually bought, what are friends for eh

These are a 1080P 30FPS or 720/60 action cam that come in a waterproof housing. They are similar to the GO PRO. I have done some side by side camparisons with the sony action cam and they are pretty good.

Down sides, buy a spare battery, I only get about an hour or so out of mine. They also dont have image stabilization. Upside they are cheap, tough and put out a great image.

Having seen the video footage from the last NAV ride I’ve been researching video camera’s.

    Found these KOGAN branded camera’s…

That is the Black edition and for just $139 you get EVERYTHING in the pic so essentially all you need is an SD card and you’re ready to race!

    Extra’s listed as:

    Mounting accessories pack includes:

    Rollbar/Bike mount
    Helmet mount
    Car suction cup mount

KOGAN black V. Go Pro black

Doesn’t appear to have a still camera, but I wouldn’t buy it for that anyway.

ANYONE GOT ONE? USED ONE? If so any thoughts you’d like to share? Looks good on paper.

Spare batteries are just $19ea and last for 2 hours according to the Kogan propaganda

    Hi JTB
You don’t need a stills feature as you can pull out single frames in post production. Looks like good value for the money. It will be interesting to see the footage it can capture.

I own quite a few different cameras. If you can, get the contour. They just have the best mounting options and are slick to use, my favourite of the lot and worth the extra, rotating lens is awesome. You just whack some velcro on the top of your helmet and camera, rotate the lens and away you go.

The sony is great too but just not as cool to use and sticks out the side of the helmet. The gopro looks like your trying to communicate with aliens from mars and sticks out too much. Good for mounting on the bike.

If you like I can see if I can still get a deal for you on the PQI which is also very good, (thats what I used for the rear facing footage on nav ride) the deal I got for wookie and skyrider meant they got the 32GB SD and wireless accessory to control the camera from the Iphone /android for under $250. PM me if your keen. I can get the base camera for $178.00 and if anyone else wants one I might be able to get a deal on the extras if a few people want them. Otherwise happy shopping and good luck. Not sure about going for the cheapest you can find though ……

Squigs, not going for the cheapest I can find. Kicking tyres and seeing what is what in the zoo. Can’t justify the cost of the Go Pro, but something with almost the same features at 1/3 the price… certainly grabs my interest!

I like the idea of velcro mounting! Endless possibilities there alone… couple of hundred is not justifiable for me at the moment. Trying to do EVERYTHING on a budget. Thanks for the tips and offer though, greatly appreciated! ;)

In the meantime the research goes on…

Seems like a good buy but when you buy the go pro you choose what mount you want ie motor sport cycle or surf so the comparison is a little misleading.

I’m honestly happy with my go pro but I do like the idea of the screen on the back of these.
That is a costly accessory with the gp

No Probs JTB, understand completely. I had a quick look on ebay for you and the contour roams start at about $219, which you probably saw as well, it says from Australia but often coming from Hong Kong. Not that it matters too much.

Could not find much on the Kogans at all from a review point of view but the sony starts at about 200 as well.

You could try and win this

Its at cessnock and I can pick it up for you if you dont want the risk the whole online transaction thingy.

    Good luck

    Hi

I got the DRIFT HD 1080p from eBay Aust. Its the only one I have had/used but am happy with it.

Best 2 features would be the goggle strap mount as it keeps the camera close to you so it doesn’t get ripped off. Look at some of my YouTube Trail stacks and you will see. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLdg3v50ZSY

And the remote button to start & stop recording.

It also does 1080p HD takes a class 10 32gig card, I don’t quite fill it on a good day out.

I am sitting here at Changing Airport at the moment. I thought I would take the opportunity to pick up a cheap go pro duty free. Turns out I can buy cheaper at Harvey Norman. The silver is $468 sing dollars here ($405 aus) and Harvey has them for about $340 Aus. The black is $580 sing dollars ($502 Aus) not sure what Harvey has them going for though.
