I know its a little in the afternoon for a ride report but unfortunately not all goes as planned. :(
Dude dropped in out our place in perefect time as Luke and I had just finished loading bikes.
Found I way to Ourimbah in plenty of time and proceeded to gear up in cold conditions
Cramusic was already there and Jeffro showed up not long after with a flash new blue bike
Adam our leader arrived and we were off into the hills. B) We did some nice rocky hills which pleasantly surprised me.
And I’m sure there would be some grade 4-5 hills in there as it was pretty steep terrain. :woohoo:
We did one small loop and then seemed to do it again, I think Adam was trying to get us dizzy.
Unfortunately towards the end of our second lap, my young bro hit a tree root at the wrong angle and was off his bike sitting on the ground, not looking to well. He had broken his left collar bone and it was almost sticking through the skin.
I headed back to the car and the other boys helped Luke to the top of track. Drove the Nissan up to where they were and loaded his bike, said our goodbyes and headed for home.
Thanks fella’s for the help. Thanks Adam for the sling and Dude for the Neurofen ( he didn’t need them and I will return them when I see ya next)
Maybe next time I’ll be out for more than an hour.
Would love to get down there again and have a bit more of a look around. 👿 👿
    Sorry no pics. ;)
    Cheers

The last two rides I’ve led has led to injuries

My mate Mark with a dislocated shoulder and today Lil Murph with a broken collarbone :(

Once Murph had loaded up Lil Murph we proceeded to the single that I missed leading up to Lil murphs incident  and then got into the mix of things :)

We popped in and out off the main track till we reached the main singles, then it was twists and turns, ups and downs and no more round and rounds :woohoo:

There were a couple of occasions where I came unstuck  and even managed to catch Jeffro when he came unstuck in the same spot

Further in I had a little rest in a nice soft bush and let the others catch up  I noticed they were falling behind :P

We singled some more then said googbye to Jeffro as his starter was screeming (literally  ) so he could get it sorted before the Bday ride, hope you get it fixed in time ;)

The next section has marble hill. I still have problems getting up marble hill but got up just the same not pretty though

I finished off the day sweeping and pointed Cramusic in the right direction just in case the voodoo decided to kick in again

We came across a couple of other guys on the same track leading back and did the golf thing with them a couple of times (like letting them play through  ) whilst having a rest then catching them and passing when they had a rest

I had some fun :woohoo: and thanks to Jeffro, Murph, Cramusic, Lil Murph and Dude for turning up, Dude for sweeping and I hope Lil Murph gets back soon ;)

I’ll have a couple of vids tomorrow but got to get ready for work now :(

Did you notice there was no mention of Action or Sam

Action was missing in action  out with the dreaded lurgy (I told him it’s no way to speak about his wife :P )

And Sam has second degree burns to his lower leg  On Friday night at a bonfire in our back paddock he managed to set his pants on fire and the result was as above :pinch:

I wonder if the milkman had anything to do with this  :P

    See you Sunny Corner :woohoo:

Like what Murph and Adam said.

Was following Litmurph when he had his mishap……we were riding up a rutted out road / firetail and
litmurph was on the right edge of trail but these prickly bushs were forceing him into the rut
which he did at speed….was expecting him to jump up and pick up his bike but that didn’t happen.

anyway after the Murphs left……. it got a lot more singliey and was a lot of fun… :P

    great conditions :P

    big rock slabs :cheer:

    sand :)

    clay :)

    marbles :woohoo: 😆

    good crew

    good fun

thanks to Adam and all. :)

That’s not good news Murph. Hope litmurph is ok and has a speedy recovery and is back ripping up the trails soon.

    Guys,
Sounds like you had a good time, except for Lil Murph (speedy recovery for you I hope).
I spent the day wishing I was there with you guys.
I really enjoy the riding up there.
Looking forward to seeing you on the Bday ride. ;)

    Cheers

It was a good shake down ride, particularly since I hadn’t done anything more than a grade 2 to 3 ride for probably 18 months due to the shoulder injury and I was really feeling it by the time I bailed out. It was my first time riding at Ourimbah and there was a great mix of terrain with steep rocky sections with some big step ups, tight singles, free flowing singles and of course the fire trails tht link them together (some of which were pretty narly as well).

I had problems on some rocky steps at a couple of places where I got stuck or stalled the bike which normally wouldn’t be a problem except that the starter motor wasn’t very happy and did more squealing than starting as Adam said. That made me a little nervous every time there was anything remotely difficult worrying about stalling again. By the time midday rolled around I was starting to struggle physically and having trouble peeling my fingers off the bars, (maybe riding without a steering damper for the first time in a while added to that).

Thank Adam for organising and leading and to Murph and Dude for Sweeping. Also good to meet some new old bulls in Marcus and Lil Murph, get well soon mate.

Not many photos from me either, too busy holding on and keeping up.

Almost forgot, I got home and cleaned up the bike then proceded to pull the starter out, what a job that was. First thing was the whole exhaust system had to be removed, then I had partially disassemble the sub frame to get the muffler off and next the oil lines had to come out. Pulled it apart and doused it with degreaser (didn’t have any electrical cleaner) and blew it out with compressed air.
I spoke to a mate who reckoned grafite would be better to use a lubricant so I whacked in some of that a re-assembled the starter. Bolted it back in and hit the button, nothing, only a click. Pulled it out and found that the shaft was locked up, loosened the housing bolts and it came free so tightened them back up and it was locked again. Decided that the grafite was the cause where it had gotten under the end of the shaft so pulled it all apart again, cleaned out the grafite and greased it up. Put it back together and the same deal, shaft was locked. Grabbed the shaft with the vice grips and gave it a turn and it came free so put it all back together and it seems to be working ok again, time will tell though I guess.

I was up there Saturday trying to dial in the Berg. We did the singles from the back of Westfield Tiggerah all the way upto the Quarry at Kulnura and then down to the shop for fuel and lunch before proceeding to most of them on the way back too.

It’s good to be able to ride out of your house and be in the bush having ridden only 800m of black top!

Here’s a couple of vids just after the two Murphs left us.

Leading up to this spot there is a hill with a few options. I told Cramusic and led the way however he didn’t tell the other two

At the 1:22 mark if you listen closely you can hear Jeffro’s starter motor squealing :pinch: When your close and not expecting it, it scares you
