I am going to upgrade the old XL500s to – ??????????????? HELP, to something current.
You Old Bulls who have lived and loved an adventure bike of a particular flavour for a while, please give me you opinions, good :) and bad :( .
I’ll be buying second hand so, any known faults in particular models would be useful info as well.
I am going to stay at or below 800cc.
Comfort for us over 55s is also very important, and the balance to dirt more than road.

    Cheers

PS Just tried out a new Gel seat pad on the old Matador which has about the most uncomfortable seat in the world and I highly recommend them to anyone who suffers Numb Bum Syndrome.
NBS to those of us in the know. :cheer:

    Hey Gazza55,
My time on an Adventure bike is rather limited, however, I did a fair bit of homework & talked to those I thought would know.
I was surprised at how comfortable the XTZ660 Tenere was on the 5000km + trip we did in May this year. Fatigue & discomfort was never an issue. The bike was also very maneuverable & capable of carrying a load.
I reckon they’re the pick of the bunch…..not too heavy, enough power, good fuel economy & can handle the rough stuff well (after a teknik suspension mod.)
    Crash
