BoonyJanuary 23, 2010 at 9:29 pm #169192Tank was full mate.I dont know how much further i would have got as i have never tested it.How many klms do my fellow WR riders get from there tanks?
January 23, 2010 at 10:01 pm #169194I think the tank size varies from year to year.
A mate gets a good 100ks out of his, 04 model I think.January 23, 2010 at 10:03 pm #169195Dan has an after market safari tank on his WR and purchased said tank from e bay. I have both safari and clark aftermarket tanks and would recommend either brand.
Was it an hot day there, you should do better then that and it sounds like it was a one of because you haven’t mentioned it here before maybe?
Was it flat smooth easy going when you switched onto reserve? I ask this because being like that you may have still had a wack of fuel on the other side of you tank you would normally use (the rougher riding throws the fuel over the spine to the pick up) I have had this happen to me on transport sections where I have had to go onto reserve but have been able to go back to the on postion when got back in the singles if that makes sense

January 23, 2010 at 10:13 pm #169215The ride yesterday was a bit rougher than normal with a lot of log hopping. That being said my two mates riding Kato 450`s never went on reserve.
January 23, 2010 at 10:15 pm #169188how hard where you on the gas have hit resurve on a xr400 in 72kms used a full tank on my ktm530 in 2 hours but the conditions were perfect so much fun.can usually double those figgers on a normal ride but .i reckon the safari tanks look good one of my mates has one on his ktm525 that is good for us it slows him down a bit.

January 23, 2010 at 10:22 pm #169216It was probobly the hardest i have riden the the bike since ive had it,But its still dissapointing. My brother has a 06 Wr450 and we have been on cruisy rides where i have hit reserve and he hasnt. Its the last thing you want to be thinking about when your having a top day.

January 23, 2010 at 10:38 pm #169218i get bout 90 – 110 outta mine if you are always on the gas and flog it then you lucky to get 90 i had to switch to reserve at 78 km
January 24, 2010 at 12:33 am #169219Whanny locally an aftermarket tank will cost $450+, try just gas tanks out of the states or monkeybutt parts, pretty good to deal with and 1/2 price of domestic stuff.

January 24, 2010 at 5:29 am #169233Would changing the jetting give me better economy?
January 24, 2010 at 6:08 am #169263It sounds like thats what they do Aido, if it is running fine thats great leave the jetting. Get a 13 litre tank or deal with it maybe mate.
I once over heard a famous rider when questioned about some thing like this and he said ” Sometimes you just have to learn to f#*k with the D*#k you got”
