May 14, 2009 at 12:02 am #1341171965 was very popular year for Australians to have amazingly well developed and bright offspring, with a much lower birth mortality rate we were the first of our kind (Generation X) and set the physical and cerebral standards that remain in place today, we were stronger faster and brighter than any generation before by leaps and bounds.
We grew up on the first purpose built off-road motorcycles and the uprising of the Japanese juggernaut in motorcycling. Our heroes were Stephen Gall, Malcolm Smith, Kenny Roberts, and the legion of yanks that dominated MX from ’79 on. Some of our Ilk include Michael Doohan, Jeff liesk, Craig Dack but to name a few Aussies of my generation.
Generation X is the generation charged with rebuilding the infrastructure laid down in the post war era by our Grandparents, and monopolised and exploited, then wasted by the baby boomers, our parents, we are the first in many fields to break traditions such as the distinction betwixt sexs in the workplace, we don’t raise an iota of interest about racial difference we mostly accept them, we are the pre-dominant group of off-road riders ATM with no plans of growing up while our still self-absorbed parent generation runs around destroying the silence and wonder of Australia in their vast motorhomes, campervans, and caravans towed by ostentatious 4wds.BC
For we are Generation X, and for the moment we control your future Ys and whatevers.

AnonymousAge. There are many descriptions of age. You have probably heard them all.
You are only as old as the woman/man you feel.
Age is a state of mind.
He aged disgracfully.
she aged gracefully.
etc etc etc………………….
Forget the years bit. That is an invention of the human race based on the rotation of the earth around the sun, the earths rotation and heaps of other cosmological thingys.
The beauty of dirt bike riding is that when we all have our flash gear on, including helmet, we all look the same. We don’t all ride the same:( but we all look like we are ready to take on the ISDE and win it.
I have been, on occasions, riding in the bush around Kurri by my self and have met another rider. After having the usual conversation, helmets on, we have decided to ride together and proceded to have a top day. The fun part is when we take off our helmets when we stop for a rest. The look on the young blokes face when the helmet comes off and there is a geriatric is priceless.
Same thing happens when I am on a big ride. They all know I am 65 and when we stop the fun starts. (Not so much with Old Bulls as most of them are oldish bastards anyway:P ) The young blokes on the ride havn’t a clue what to say to me. After all I am as old as their dads and some of their grand dads! Should they swear, is talking about their last root with somebody as old as their Pop the right thing to do? Priceless.
The best thing about being old is that you can get away with outrageously flirting with the young girls on the ride.(Without acting like a dirty old man). They know that if they respond there is no price to pay as I am to old to follow up on the flirt and her indoors would geld me if she found out!
Age has nothing to do with dirt bike riding. You get on the bike, you ride to your own ability, respect others ability and have a ball.
old al
