I need some advice. On the weekend I noticed that all the turning signal stopped working. Not that you need that in the bush but if you hit the tar it good to have.

Couldn’t sleep :( so 2am this morning I consulted my shop manual and after tinkering around I removed the turn signal relay from the connector and found it very dirty. So after cleaning the terminals I put it back in only to find the problem not fixed.

The book talks about connecting the terminals of the wire harness connector with a jumper wire…(so what the frig does that mean) then turn on and check turn switch

If light does not come on check open circuit in wires
If light comes on check connector terminals for loose/poor contact. If connector terminals are ok replace the turn signal relay

So I don’t know how to do the jumper wire but I noticed that when I turn the blinkers on I hear a click in the relay box. How do I determine if I need to replace the turn signal relay.

Sorry if this is dumb question but very green at this sort of stuff but giving it a go.

Hi Katgirl, if you are getting a click at the relay it says to me you have power and it probably needs replacement. You can test this with a test light.
A jumper wire is simply a wire powered straight of your battery to eliminate issues with the circuits prior to the relay.
Depending on the shape of wiring plug you may be able to get a generic flasher can from an auto electrician locally to try.

Thanks DRool for pointing me in the right direction. I’ll pick up a test light on the weekend and have a play…
