After my little incident on Mick’s birthday ride, that saw my radiator get caved in, causing steam and coolant to gush skyward, the left radiator on My XR650 was looking very second hand. So much so, I had pretty well written it off. As you can see from the pic it was pretty stuffed.

I purchased a set of PWR radiators and fitted those leaving me with a good spare right hand side radiator. Before I got a chance to throw the damaged left side one away, Mick suggested that I give Phil at Anderson’s Radiators at Port Macquarie a look at it. I was dubious to say the least, but just to humour Mick, I let him take the radiator. Mick took it into him and Phil said it was the 2nd worse damaged motorcycle radiator he had seen but he would have a go at fixing it. Phil has been in the Radiator business for over 30 years and is the go to man for motorcycle radiator repairs and replacements.
Mick picked the radiator up from Phil for me. To think he could repair the damage to such a stuffed radiator is testament to his skill. It is hard to believe it is the same radiator!!

So, before you rush out and buy a new radiator when you smash yours in an off trail moment, it probably wouldn’t hurt to give Phil a call and see what he can do for you. He does bike radiator repairs for riders all over Australia, so sending your radiator to him and getting it returned wouldn’t be a hassle.
You can get Phil on the phone on 02 6583 2004 and tell him you saw it on OBT
