If I never see you again, it will be too soon… Good bye & farewell Winter
 Halleluiah, spring has sprung.

On Wednesday I sent Winter off with a bang, actually a 2 bang. See my awesome ride report here,
    http://www.obtrailriders.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=2&id=111100&Itemid=75.

It was only fitting I see Spring in with a ride as well. Seeing I took the RMX out on Wednesday, I though I would share the love and give the DRZ a run Yesterday. I’m starting to like this multiple bike thing. Not sure I could handle two women at the same time but having two bikes at my beckon call is nice. :)

Like most days I have off I slept in to mid morning sometime. Most of my gear was still in the car from the day before and the trailer still hitched up so it was simply a matter of throwing the DRZ on the trailer and hitting the road.

I headed back over the mountain to the same old riding ground at Clarence. Why not, there is so much riding to be had in this area and a wide diversity of terrain. Between yesterday and today I covered even more trails both single and twin/fire trail I haven’t ridden before. The familiarity of the area is also a bonus when I’m out there by myself (I think one of them ‘Spot’ do dads is on the Christmas wish list).

I haven’t been out to Capertee for a while so I decided on a run across Baal Bone Gap via the Angus place trail. Nothing technical about this trail but still one of my favourite runs, it just flows over the mountains and through the gully, 3rd, 4th, 5th gear stuff all the way with some magnificent views, fast flowing corners, small rocky sections to bounce across and the odd erosion jump to get a giggle out of.

Not a bad place to spend the day.

Once in Capertee I stopped for a top up of fuel and a feed. I then pottered around town all touristy like. I cracked out the camera and took some photos of the old train station. This place is for lease if anybody is interested.

The DRZ has just recently been fitted with a new chain and sprocket bringing a major regear. It now has 15/42 so rather than going back the way I came I decided see how the new gearing goes and stretch the legs of the DRZ along the Castlereagh Highway.

I zoomed down to Ben Bullen and stopped at another old rail siding. Than on the Cullen Bullen. Well the DRZ is no Hayabusa and I’m no Ghostrider but I can say it pulls the new gearing no problems and will now comfortably sit on 100kph (and above) B) .

I continued on through Cullen Bullen before heading back into the bush. At this stage I had no idea where I was going or where this trail would take me but I had nearly a full tank, plenty of hours of daylight and not a care in the world. I ended up on a power line trail that took me down into some flats where I found a hidden MX circuit I think I may have been in the back of one of the local Collieries. I’m in here now, may as well cut some laps.
Now I don’t like to brag, but if there’s a story in the local paper up that way tomorrow about Ryan Dungey being in town and practising at a secret facility rest assured it was just me cutting sick on the DRZ. Sorry, no pictures of this top secret test track.

I back tracked a little up the power line trail and headed East. Trail had to go somewhere. Wound my way up over the mountain and found a lookout I haven’t been to before. I think it overlooks Cullen Bullen. The trail made it way back to another power line trail eventually coming out on the Wolgan Rd.

Now I knew where I was I scooted along Wolgan Rd and took the Beecroft track for the run back to the car.
Back at home enjoying a cold beverage it just dawned on me, I now have two bikes to clean. Maybe the two woman thing would be easier after all.

Yeah Eages after typing this up last night the gremlins got into the Old Bull systems and I could not get in (turns out nobody could) so I chucked the report on ADV. TB has finally paid the bill and now Old Bulls is back.
