I’m in the process of removing my rear suspension on the XR400 for Teknik’s to have a look. I’ve stripped the bike down to the point I can get to the suspension bolts both top and bottom but……. with all my girl power and bit of WD40 i can’t budge it. Would appreciate a bit of bloke strength on four bolts….. I’ll throw in a couple of beers and some bike talk as a thank you. PM me if you can help a fellow OBT…

    Thanks…

    Katgirl ,
You may be able to conquer those tight nuts by putting a length of metal pipe, if you have some handy, over the spanner you are using. Make sure you use the ring end or closed end as it will give a better grip on the nuts. If possible a socket and ratchet or breaker bar will be better again. The pipe can be used on this setup as well.

    Give it a try. ;)

Sorry Kat I am stuck in bloody Melbourne (and have lost my stuffin phone) otherwise I would be there to help mate

Galeys advice is good, you can also hook the ring spanner end in the opened end of the other spanner (sorry cant provide a picture maybe somebody could  )

A bit of a rush job pic here Kat, but it may help you get some idea of leverage on the spanner
Might not be useful as the shock boltsa re in a tighter position, but worth a try
