    Yep,
And more KTM`s in that group too (690`s to boot) ;)
As well as a DR or two

Goes to show that 690s can do it with good preparation :)

Eags you have read the thread over there the 690’s have shit themselves all over the country. I hope you said that tongue in cheek mate

The 990’s and 950’s have done well but the 690’s

I am disappointed that all the hype regarding the event being near impossible and extra days would be given and only 400 odd klms of bitumen have seemed of track. Nick and I run off road all day, no stops near the limit, fire trails dirt road like the APC promised and with only a 40min lunch stop and one other 5 min fuel stop squeeze out 530kms with a 62kph average, I dont understand. I am not knocking John its the first one he has run and he is doing it thank god he is. I think it will only get better I have enjoyed watching it and wished I had now done it. We only didn’t cause we didn’t think we would get to look at anything, turns out we would of had heaps of time up out sleeves

I see there was a few (read way to many) had injector failures how to your prepare against that ?

If I was to replace my Tenere now how could I go past a DR650? For 15k you could have the best over yes over setup adventure bike that could do all the hard core shit. Look at Pilth’s bike

RIP the 690’s Beags  :P

    I am not so sure,,,,
Having not done anything remotely like the APC, I see a lot of 690`s in pics & coming in in groups in the ride reports daily :)
I tend to think they were well up there in the number stakes (maybe even top 3)

What would I do to combat the injector problems you ask ???
Well, I think it would be a small outlay really to have a spare onboard, due to the remoteness of some of the areas travelled. Afterall, the majority of riders (whatever bike they rode) would have probably taken way more spares than they really needed for the trip (human nature to over prepare for some of them)

We all carry spare nuts & bolts etc, so I reckon a spare set for the tank upper & lowers would sufficed too.
I noted that the guy that had the rear end problems had a flimsy looking rack setup , would like to think the Touratech one like mine with double braces each side would support more of the weight) ;) THere are quite a few 690`s sporting the Touratech rack that have finished,,,,,,

    Just my inexperienced 2c worth :) :) :)
