I reckon when Mick gets back from the scrapheap he would do it for you for a six pack mate it only talks 30 mins and he could give you some pointers. Only thing I would do is use a tension wrench when tightening the clutch spring retaining bolts.

i think one of the best things about owning a bike is actually learning to fix & maintain it each brand has its different quirks so you can learn quite alot
i took on a complete rebuild of my TE 510 husky after doing a bigend your best freind is the computer it has all the references you need as you said theres one being done on you tube follow the points that hes doing thigs may change model to model so invest in a good manual for your specifics but the basics will be the same

Mate give me a call if you aren’t confident in doing it yourself. I will lend you a tension wrench if you want to have a go on your own.

It may seem expensive going to a retailer to get the job done but have a chat to them, ask them what there rent per week is. I don’t know how some of them can survive. One auto electric guy told me he was owed $20k form clients, Very sad. The young bloke didn’t want me to put his tyre on as I might stuff it, went back to rock motorcycles and they said if you purchased it here its free. I don’t mind paying for that one off as I know I might need them in the future.

Simple job mate you will smash it.
I don’t mind paying for a job well done but if I can do it myself I will.

Yeah well said Dickie ;) Two sides to every quote I didnt think either was to dear who knows they maybe changing the oil and filter rather than chucking it on its side. Fact is its one you can do yourself so do it.

(Thats not to say there arent shops out there that will rip you ;) )

I didn’t think that the above quotes were too bad and far from being a rip off. Especially if they include parts. I mean whats a clutch kit worth? Probably $150 for an aftermarket kit including springs. Most shops these day are between $80 to $90 an hour. This makes one quote seem pretty cheap and the other one right on par.

    Hey Fuschy
I remember changing a clutch on my DR600 almost 20 years ago
Pretty straight forward from what I can recall
    Have fun

That could be a bit rich, we had the clutch plate changed on the tractor, 9 hours labour. The next time it went the wife and I changed it all in 3 hours (6hrs labour) plus about 1/2 hr turning up the guide on the lathe.

As for tension I just go for what feels good, (have a tension bar but never use it) you could always just mark the bolts and remember where they go and just tighten them back up to the same spot.
