Ok, I know I need to get out on the bike more often (that`s the obvious answer)
But does anyone have any good advice on exercise for your hands/ lower arms that can easily be done at home or work ???

The old Squeezy ball trick or something???
Surely some of the legends on here can share a tip or two :)
I vaguely recall Mal 5.1 once sharing a tip to someone on some good stretches to do to the hands/wrist area, maybe that will help ?????

I have found today that my recent job change hasn`t done me any favours when hanging onto the 690 on rocky/ technical trails when standing up ,,, Unless I can strap an I Pad to the bars  :silly:

One of the best things I ever bought actually, thought it was a toy for years. Finally purchased and its good funny more you use it the more it strengthens from fingers to shoulder

Will find some videos of it being used at Nick’s if I can

PS Ride the bike more ;)

Does look good for hand/arm/shoulder conditioning though.

I have heard that if your bars are set up too far forward, it can also cause arm pump. I also found this when I got a new bike once and adjusting the bars helped.

It will cost you nothing to try…….. ;)

Stretching both side of the forearms and massaging to top of the forearm helped me heaps. Do it as often as possible through out the day. Also been generallty fit helps too.

Breathing was big thing I learnt a few years back. You tend to hold your breath when the body is stressed (riding shity tracks or lifting heavy things). Next time try to concentrate on breathing deep and conrolled when riding the nasty stuff. Also loosen your grip on the bike at every opportunity, down hills grip the bike with your knees (thanks Crash) and relax your upper body. Makes a big difference to getting through the day.

Bike set up is important too Eags, as Gav said costs you nothing to move bars around. Pick a section of track you don’t like much and do a few times with different bar setups.

The Dynaflex is a cool thing. I had a go of one at Suttos once. Really works the arms but big muscles only let you lift heavier things not have the endurance to ride all day.

Oh yeah and RIDE MORE!!!!

Mal5.1 is right, grip the bike with your legs and standup as much as possible.
You`ll still get arm pump but less of it …… and when you crash it will be more spectckler for ur mates!!
Ride more often, relax, then think of yourself as an old fart … works for me
