Thanks i have been looking at them for a while but was not sure if they would work or not. I will be getting them for sure. 😆
February 7, 2012 at 11:42 am #213223Tb just wondering if you have Riom locks fitted to your Tenere if so what size is the back one. The mrchanic is telling me he can not get a big enough rim lock for the rear ( i find that hard to believe)

Thanks AndreYeah I have one, its a large size standard rim lock. The size is a 2.5 from memory or could be a 2.75 the bike shop should have both and will be able to size them up. I am nearly 100% sure mine is a 2.5, I only fitted a rim lock after covering 32,000kms and only fitted it then because I wanted to be able to drop the pressures really low for the desert. I would go on record saying that for normal use and pressures it itsn’tt required. I tear tyres up more than most it seems and I never spun I tube on the rear (either has Nick and he wears tyres out almost as quickly as me)
Anyway the rims lock looks like the below
I have installed it four spokes from the valve, a little harder to balance but easier to change tyres the way I do them
TB
PS Hey if you get stuck Sutto’s have them in stock I was just talking with Scotty
February 7, 2012 at 12:20 pm #215649thanks mate i just spoke to the Mechanic and he has tried to fit the 2.5 and its just touching the sides by 2 milliameters or so thus will not do what its supposed to do. I told him that sutto’s may have some in stock so i hope that they have larger one’s.
February 7, 2012 at 12:29 pm #215653Touching the sides  but remember the tyre is in between and you cant see that. I am sure mine is a 2.5 and there are no marks on the rim to say its ever touched the rim whe tightened. I do my own tyres and would have seen the marks if there were any. As I type this I know I have seen the marks in the beads of the tyres where the rim lock has bitten into them. I am changing another rear tomorrow or on the weekend and will measure it then and take some photos, good luck

February 7, 2012 at 12:30 pm #215656Thanks mate, i would appreciate that.

AndreFebruary 15, 2012 at 3:53 pm #216186Great do you happen to know were you got it from. This will be of great help. I cant believe that the mechanic’s in bega can not source one.

AndreJust spoke with Craig (Scotty had gone home sick  ) at Sutto’s give him a ring he is on the job looking at the moment 47379566
Failing that let me know if you still get stuck because I do know a place O/S that does sell them but they are really slow delivering
Try Craig at Sutto’s firstRemember get the wheel balanced when you fit the rim lock
