Big thanks to TB & everyone who was involved in the pre running, so much time & effort goes in behind the scenes to put together a route like this, not to mention clearing the trails & the distance they travel to do so… I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say thx again for all the time & effort you all put in, it was much appreciated.
Also a big thx to Steve from Adventure Moto for donating prizes & driving the support vehicle, Yamaha & any other sponsors that I’ve forgotten for coming to the party & helping out.
I could only get away on the Sunday & TB was kind enough to let me just tag along on the Sun. I hadn’t been on the bike for months & was hanging for a ride, I knew this one was gonna be a cracker as I live in the area. Bike was prepped, new tyre whacked on, clean air filter, threw a lambs wool cover on the seat then put 20L of fuel in the tank & all was looking good for my 1st ride with the Old Bulls. Now here comes the twist (no pun intended) the next day I threw my back out & could hardly walk, damn. Hoped it would come good but unfortunately it didn’t, riding was not an option any more so my ride turned into a DNS. On a lighter note I went up & had dinner on Saturday night with the crew to explain my misfortune, met some really nice people, sounds like you all had a great days riding. Sorry I couldn’t tag along, was really looking forward to it… Made the right call though, on Sun morning I couldn’t even get my shoes on let alone my leg over a bike.
Sorry to hear about your bad luck there Puddles, wishing you a speedy recovery mate.
Thx for all the ride reports everyone, been enjoying reading all your posts.
Glad to hear/see you’z all had such a good ride.p.s Was talking to a few people on Sat night about a ride we did a while ago from Kempsey to Gingers Creek, if any of you would like the route just give us a yell.

August 21, 2013 at 5:39 am #248167Hey all,
Big thanks to TB and all the crew for putting on a top ride, I for one had a great day out on Saturday. All round fantastic trails, even though I was pushing a 1200 GS to it’s limit (mine too I might add) The single line Banda Banda was a hoot on the big bike, sure didn’t need anymore horsepower, bit more suspension would have helped.
Although Squiggle made us 1200 riders out to be soft by not riding the OBT route Sunday, he certainly didn’t waste time nor mince words about agreeing to ride back via Bellbrook, Kookaburra, Gingers Creek and Knodingbull with a detour along Murrays Creek trail just to finish off the days offroad riding. As a matter of fact, at the end of Murrays Creek when he turned up I do remember a certain rider screaming at the top of his voice “fa…..k yeh….. how good was that!!!!! He was right it’s a fantastic trail even on a 1200….Brownie came past me toward the end getting air over the contour banks….jumpin GS.Looking forward to the next ride.
Cheers

Yup, F*^K yeah is right, I think I said that quite a few times over the weekend. My other fav was the erosion mounds on the way up to the look out on saturday and the track coming down…. friggin awesome. Not to mention following the ridge line down into cowpat pasture after that great little hill climb. I am pretty sure we passed the Tenere being piloted by James on that hill
Awesome the way these all flowed, a great route.
The rear facing camera mounted mid triumph worked out awesome, the footage is great. I should have ridden in front of brownie on murrays run
Just going through the footage of day one now to see if I managed to catch any crash footage worth patching together.
oh yeah, and you are soft

August 21, 2013 at 10:48 am #248426Well what can i say, you nailed it again TB!
This was the best Nav ride ever in my opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed the technical sections and had a blast scooting down some of the open trails :woohoo: I did need to do a couple of three point turns in the single after Kempsey…what a blast!!!
I huge thank you to TB, King Strucky, Crash and everyone else that helped to plot this route across some amazing country and of course the sweeps, support crew, Adventure Moto and Yamaha.
Accommodation was great on both nights and the company was great as always.
Highlights for me were firstly riding with my mate Eagle…thanks mate, you are a true gentlemen and a pleasure to ride with.
Thanks Lefty for the company on day one…you had me with my pucker hanging out trying to keep up with you through some of those sections :S  :woohoo:
Gav and Jo for the fun through the last section of day one and Trailraider for having an awesome battle (almost banging saddlebags) on day 2…that was awesome with the big bike mate!
I wont go to much into the details of the ride because most of its been covered already, but here are some photos i took along the way.

Oopsie…Eagle got a little trapped here for a minute…but it was okay, i was watching from a distance
A great selection of trails – good to mix it up i think

Eagle giving the big girl a wash…

…and then getting her dirty again…(warning, warning Will Robertson)

Long open sections…

…and some tighter rainforest sections just to balance it out. This was one of the best sections of the ride in my opinion
:woohoo:
GavB just before he got air! :silly:

Once again, thanks TB. Can you please add me to the list for the next ride. Dont care where or when it is.
August 21, 2013 at 11:15 am #248433Hey Ace, I owe you a round, might be an excuse to get the big bikes dirty again

August 21, 2013 at 11:34 am #248437I started my RR last night but somehow forgot to save it. I would firstly like to thank TB and as previously mentioned by others, all of the Pre-run, support and sweep crews who do a fantastic job organising these rides and keeping an eye on everyone and rolling along a really great effort by all concerned. Also a big thank you to Steve (Adv Moto) and Peter Payne (Yamaha) for their continued support and the great prize give-aways! Not necessary but very much appreciated and thank you.
Thanks to my riding partners Ace and Eagle. Great ride on Saturday gents and I can’t wait to do it all again. :woohoo: Well it was an absolute cracker of a route!! Well done TB, Strucky and Crash and anyone else that was involved in the Pre-run and deciding on this route. It had all types terrain and was suited to all types of riders and bikes with the odd curved ball thrown in, great stuff. Plommer rd along the sand was a definite favourite of mine as well as the singles thrown in for good measure.
I was sorry to hear about Puddlesas he had his accident not long after I helped him pick his bike up after a small off where he was stuck with the bike on its side on an uphill section. I hope that you are on the mend mate and can get back on the Husky asap.
After getting fuel at Nambucca Ace, Mr Squiggle and I decided it was time for a cleansing ale at the local Tavern so off we went for a smart one! Great idea Ace that washed the dust down mate. After a top feed at the Nambucca Riverside Motel and a few more ales followed by a JD or two
Day 2 started at 6.30am with TB requiring me to lead with him as PTW had bike troublesand couldn’t start on Sunday so Strucky was doing sweep duties. Thanks TB it was on from the get go and it was a cracker of a ride, unfortunately my front rim now looks like a stop sign after a few big hits with too low pressure oops!! Lucky for Michelin Ultra heavy duty tubes as I am stunned that I didn’t get a flat tyre…..
After 675km of riding it all ended too soon and we were back at the Breckin Ridge loaded and ready for the drive home.
Thanks to everyone and I can’t wait for the next one.
Cheers,
