Day 4 of the Australian Safari, and at the time of this update,
Chris’s hero, Shane Diener(KLX) has had more drama in the 1st leg that unfortunately resulted in a broken leg after hitting a kangaroo in dust! So, that’s the end of Team Green for the Safari.
To top that off, the x2 Team Blue Guns both DNF’ed.
Todd Smith(WR) lunched his engine after an oil line was ripped off. And then his brother Jacob, had some sort of mechanical drama too and DNF’ed the first stage as well. However, Rod Faggotter is going great guns and flying the Blue flag on his WR.
A massive day today. Over 580kms of competitive racing over 4 stages against the clock.
The 1st stage of 232kms, saw Ben Grabham again set the quickest time, 4mins ahead of his brother Damian, Faggotter, Strange and Fish.
The 2nd stage of another 224kms had Ben 4 and a half minutes in front of Rod Faggotter, with Damian 15sec behind, then Schwarz 7mins back.
The 3rd stage was a short one at only 55kms. Not much between the first 10, only 3 and half mins.
The Berg’s are sneaking up!
The final 4th stage was only 71kms. Again the top 10 finishers were all within 5 and a half minutes of Ben Grabham who completed a clean sweep for all stages today.
So, overall at the end of day 4, Ben is half an hour in front of his brother Damian, who is only seconds in front of Rod Faggotter. Then it’s back 35mins to 4th & 5th, Strange and Fish respectively. Then 50mins to Schwarz in 6th.
Stalking tigers are the 650 Husabergs, who now are in 10th & 11th. (
The 3rd GHR/Honda rider, Andrew Coaker, just like last year, is riding consistently, moving him up to 8th.
Now the top 10 makers are:
CRF,CRF,WR,CRF,KTM,KTM,CRF,CRF,KTM,HUS.
Apparently, communication has been very difficult today, so there is still a lot of riders times not in yet.
‘til tomorrow,
