Quote:Its very impressive far more technically advanced then a KTM at the moment but I guess once you have the rear end worked out you can concentrate on the rest of the bike. So thats Honda, Susuki, Yamaha, Husaberg, Husky, Serco with fuel injection, who have I forgotten? The new 2010 CRF450X is injected I heard recently

So’s the KTM supposed to be, I’ll believe that when I see it though. Either way, my next bike is very likely not to be a KTM. I think the other guys are moving ahead of them now and have better things to offer.

AnonymousI like the new plastic rear subframes, very cool. Especially if like the Berg it can be modded to give you an extra couple of litres fuel capacity when needed.

September 10, 2009 at 5:55 am #151973Aluminum sub frames for me, alloy can be straightened and welded when repair time comes around. IMO

Anonymousi do think a 4 valve head is a good one yamaha
but i still think that valve heads are too big and heavy as far as i’m concerned though
September 10, 2009 at 6:17 am #151978look betta in yellow
September 10, 2009 at 6:25 am #151980In regards to the twisted up exhaust, could they not alter the timing or fuel mixture or cam or something so they could use a shorter exhaust. I realise the length is for the torque and power curve etc, but with all this new technology i thought something could be done about it.

i was also told a few weeks ago (from an undisclosed source) that they originally wrapped the pipe around the shock. but james stewart kept wreaking the pipe when the spring expanded radially.
sounds sus to me. i think yamaha would have thought of that prior to putting their prize fighter on itSeptember 10, 2009 at 6:32 am #151984thats nice champo but not exactly an answer to my question
September 10, 2009 at 6:36 am #151791is it just me or dose it look 1/2 finished?!?!?!= pics 3->8

MMMM FI dirt bike MMM
i too think the mid pipe looks a bit cumbersome, but must work or they would not have released the bike the way it is.
September 10, 2009 at 6:42 am #151988tuned pipe ?????? I agree with 4skin Y not try to match the engine mapping and the gasses removal system to give the desired result instead of that queer looking and I would say rather expensive exhaust pipe,,,yuk,,Dont like it at all.

Anonymousdid tb just put up a post and remove it or did i fall asleep and dream it?
anyway tb.
springs compress, twist, do all sorts of flexing. and i’m told expandand radially
shocks also pivot.thats why there is a gap between your spring and airboot

A spring compresses it doesnt blow outwards like a paper bag. I chinese bike one might

Firstly the shock absorber would run out of stroke before the spring should, also the springs compresses it doesn’t expand outwards anywhere like that. My XR rear spring is so close to the intake boot I cant fit my little finger between it and it doesn’t touch with my fat arse bottoming the rear out from time to time. Lastly I would thing Bubba would have the best money suspension that money could buy including enough technicians to make sure he doesn’t have a rear shock spring that expanding outwards instead of compressing as it is supposed to. If the spring expanded instead of compressing anything like it would need to to damage the exhaust you couldnt control the compression rate of the spring. As the below video shows even with two tonnes force the springs still don’t blow out sideways bugger all

Sorry but in mine opinion you undisclosed source is dreaming
