When you told me you were hurt, I assessed you as best I could with my basic medical knowledge and experience with pain thresholds and assumed that because you rode a Euro bike you were being a bit precious.
To finish the ride through the last 25kms or so, of what was relatively hard going, is a testament to you mate. If I had of known the true extent of your injuries I would have shown you the easy way out but I didn’t want Amy knowing there was and easy way out.
Here’s hoping you heal up quick.
Cheers
MickTHERE WAS AN EASY WAY OUT!!
I second that……….THERE WAS AN EASY WAY OUT!!. ……..i somewhat remember almost begging for an easy way out.
Razzle, your effort almost puts me to shame. I think the only thing that got me through the last 30km was complaining. You are one tuff man, riding with those injuries and not showing it. If I had known you were injured I would have definitely used you as my ticket out that bush.
I also hate to break it to you (pardon the pun) but ribs are a long time healing. They seem to get worse for the first 3 weeks.

  I actually remember you almost begging for a way out and thinking “if she goes I’m going with her!” Never mind, we made it, sore, exhausted, whatever … we survived Mick’s 100k Loop
I haven’t said it before, but you and Rach were truly inspirational (for me). You both rock for your shear tenacity.

Bugger off and get a life! 👿So I’ve got 6 to 8 weeks of no riding (f*ck it!), 6 to 8 weeks to shop for LOTS of armour, new goggles (they got screwed over by some stray vine), new helmet (smashed the peak and scratched the shit out of it in “the incident”). 6 to 8 weeks.
Razz.
Razz mate I feel your pain man  I only got to spend an hour at kempsey before being carted off to Port Macquarie but seemed longer because the ER had about 5 ferals all A.D.D going off tap before I lost the plot and told em to get the F@#k out of there ! amazing what the adrenaline does for you I only had to ride about 7 km’s to get home but it sure as hell wasnt pleasant
spent 7 days at port then another 2 at ST Vincents getting a plate put in which they should have done at Port. Been 12 weeks now but still not right getting there tho hope you recover quicker than me.
great photies and Vids I know that it would have been awsome riding and to help support a charity even better. well done I got a bit of a fright when I scrolled down the photies and a big rude Dude closeup jumped out at me :woohoo:

March 11, 2013 at 11:33 am #238025Got a reputation for not cleaning bikes, just gets water in your bearings and chain rollers – come on lets get serious!
The berg – just a dream! I could end up like you only with less finesse I need a truely linear power curve.
The avatar – an alterego? After ollie’s comments perhaps i could change and use dude’s portrait! (no offence Dude, i loved your photos and you even knew who i was – named and shamed) i thought you got to hide behind your avatar, helmet and goggles on the site and if you come late and leave early no one will ever know! Perhaps my next avatar will be???
Good luck with the recovery and if you need help to clean the berg give me a yell.

March 11, 2013 at 7:33 pm #238034Great ride report and congrats to everyone involved. Sorry to hear about Razzle and I wish you all the very best for a speedy recovery.
I really missed not be able to come to this one and I was very keen to say gday to the old crew and to meet all the new members. I was looking after my little boys all weekend as my wife and her sister took their Mum to Byron to celebrate her 70th. Can’t wait for the birthday ride for a big reunion.STM

Anyway, my mantra has now turned to that of Snowy09, “there’s no such thing as too much body armour”!
So I’ve got 6 to 8 weeks of no riding (f*ck it!), 6 to 8 weeks to shop for LOTS of armour, new goggles (they got screwed over by some stray vine), new helmet (smashed the peak and scratched the shit out of it in “the incident”). 6 to 8 weeks.
I remember looking back and seeing Bol shaking his head at my moment of idiocy, my immediate thought was “how embarrassing, f*ck I’m an idiot” … then the pain started, I really didn’t care about being an idiot after that, funny … my only thought was “there’s no way I’m getting chopper’d out of here, keep riding, not far to go”. I must have asked Mick at least ten times “much further, is the next bit easy?”. :pinch:
Anyway, LIVE and LEARN, it was a great day, only screwed up for myself, by myself. Never again.
Actually, my only regret is not introducing myself to each and every one of you, even to say g’day …. next time.
Razz.
WOW! You rode with a snapped collar bone!! Hero status is coming your way. They hurt like hell!
Hmmm seeing as at least one person always seems to need proper medical attention on these rides perhaps my hubby should follow in the 4wd on the next big ride (seriously I think this might actually be a good idea). He’s an ED specialist, and qualified to give anesthetics and yes he does give the ‘your a dick’ look to injured Motorbike riders. I get it frequently   But he would be happy to do it. Just don’t ask him to ride.Honestly, you Razz you could have done some serious damage to your lungs if you had of fallen off a second time ribs through the chest wall is common. Plus there are some major arteries near the collar bone severing one of those with the broken bone and they would have been taking you out in a body bag.
Ok thats my nagging over…….You are a my new hero. :cheer:

Hey Toes
I spotted you early on in the day and didn’t recognise you with the cap and sunnies, was only when chatting to Dave that he was rattling off kids names that were riding that he mentioned your daughter I realised it was you. By then you were on the other side of the track watching her ride. Sorry mate, i didn’t mean to ignore you or be rude, I was kind of in a world of my own.

Not feeling anywhere near “special” in any way today I can assure you. Sunday was not too bad, sore and sorry and doped up on pain killers. Monday I was worried about my shoulder, not so much about my ribs. Today i could give a shit about my shoulder coz my ribs hurt like hell!! :pinch:
Yep, the doctor gave me the same lecture about the ramifications of a second fall, lungs, arteries etc. Also told me “no alcohol” for the next three weeks, when I asked “why, does it not mix with drugs you’ll be giving me?” he replied “no, because it increases your chances of falling over and doing serious damage” ….. WTF! that’s not “drinking” that’s completely “shit faced”! I’ll be ignoring that little piece of advice from him.
March 12, 2013 at 2:24 am #238043Bloody hell Razz

March 12, 2013 at 8:42 am #238044Hey Razzle, sorry to hear how much damage you did. Great work to finish the ride!!
Not sure what support you have around you, I get up to Kempsey a couple of times a week so if you need help with anything I am happy to give you a hand if I can help.
Just give me a yell.
