you forgot Diddel and his EC300 ass gas. surely you asked for some technical advice on critical bike maintenance like how not to pinch flat a tube.
or how to duct tape most of your bike togetheror how to keep your rear fender from flapping around and rubbing on rear tyre with most of your subframe missing ?. :woohoo:
or perhaps how to keep your exhaust and muffler on when missing most of its mounting bolts
or maybe how to re route your electrical wiring when it is getting caught in your rear wheel or burning on the exhaust
oh wow. the technical advice you could have learned from a true genius of bike maintenance đ
November 1, 2009 at 9:51 am #158891Top ride Murph …Thanks
Like the other reports say it was well organised and flowed fairly well considering there were 15 brave starters!
It was as tough and challengeing as i had imagined. Great effort by everybody to have a go at every section considering the heat was also a factor playing on everbodys mind…
Was great to meet a few more oldbull members again, and as redders mentioned “a great bunch of lad’s” ( or something). Especially when they pitched in and helped drag bike’s up a few hilly , rocky sections…
Some great picture’s taken by tf2 and a few other lad’s also…
Look forward to the next one Murph
cheers justo
:woohoo:

I have medogrocket sitting here and he said that your number 777 is a womans class number. We just checked the MA NSW site and he’s right. You are offically a girl rider and proud obviously with those big numbers.

November 1, 2009 at 5:02 pm #158984Actually Mal, I see that number is also (and more appropriately for Moto) in the Junior Girls group.

AnonymousI want to run a junior girls number, it tells people what to expect when I get on the bike
tf2 – I didn’t forget Diddel, I meant 300’s that were KTM’s and i could get useful advice from, that’s why Diddel was excluded
He also had part of an old orange cartion over his air filter and the wire from his hour meter dangling round his kick starter
he didn’t put a new rear guard on, we cut the rivets out of the old one leaving 2 holes in the guard.
If anyone ever says anything about my bike maintainence again I’ll have to post a picture of Diddel’s bike
November 2, 2009 at 12:25 am #158893The 2 corner man system worked well keeping the ride much closer. any how after doing more single and the great north walk down hill we headed to wave rock where a few decided to go round. Every one made it up wave rock quite well so we continued on.
We went to secret spot x where some refueled and a couple decided to leave the ride.
Murph wanted to do some new single which was quite nice and then try and take on a c*nt of a hill near farrells ? A few got stuck on a rock in the single track and Axels mate became impatient and decided to have a bet with Axel that he could make it up another way for $100. There wasnât actually another way but he eventually made it through so Axel owes him $100.
When we crossed the creek and got to the bottom of Carnage hill Axels mate asked âis this really worth it ?â. The last time i tried this hill with Murph i had to flip my bike without me on the bike to make it up a rock section with a massive tree root thrown in as well.
Justo
Littswood
Axel
everyone chipped in and helped out to get all to the top of this section. Then we had one more little challenge to make it to the top of the trail.
November 2, 2009 at 12:32 am #159013Going by the fact that it never looks as steep in photos as it really was – that looks steep! Good report guys.
November 2, 2009 at 12:36 am #158894Moto went first
and made it nearly right to the top of the section and then this happened
Moto giving the double Fonzy.he and the new steed slid right back down. poor 300 lucky its got a armadillo shield strapped to the front of it.
Some of the greatest carnage happened on this little section.
Most people tried the right side. this was the result of that plan.Axels mate Grant unsuccessful on first attempt.
Moto on his second charge
November 2, 2009 at 12:43 am #158895Diddel on his first attempt up the right side
his ec300 ass gas didnt like this plan so it bucked him off. you can just see diddels little head popping over the rock
He went back down too lick his wounds.
Ive never seen such look in the kids eyes. it was if some had just stolen his last dollar.
then it was Justo’s turn
November 2, 2009 at 12:54 am #158896next came someone cant tell who maybe Grant
Then seeing the carnage our fearless leader Murph decided to try the left hand line
then Ripnshred and Littswood
Last was Diddel who was hiding down the bottom crying i think ? but he made it on his second attempt.
Thats all my photos. we then headed up to the singles that would take us back to the cars were everyone got a little sloppy from being tired. made it back to the cars and found a fat leach attached to me behind the knee. was the 3rd for the day.
the end.
November 2, 2009 at 12:59 am #159016Good photos, plenty of carnage and lots of team work

AnonymousI was really looking forward to the ride, having anew bike meant there were no maintenance issues that I had ignored, the bike was loaded on Friday as I had the day off and the car was packed, all I had to do was wake-up and make my way down.
I got started early and arrived at Cooranbong in good time, even so, I decided to put some smack down in the taxi over the gravel road for the next 30Km or so to the basin. I arrived an hour before the stated ride time and saw a few guys already there.
After a few introâs I went to unload the bike, I had all but got the bike off the trailer when I noticed that my brand new 20L jerry can, full of fuel and fully synthetic 2 stroke oil had escaped the ocky strap and carrier on the trailer an was nowhere to be seen. Bugger!!
I bought the new can as a result of the hole my trailer put in my last brand new jerry can on the way to Louee where I lost 10L of fuel  At least my bike was still there and upright this time!As more people filtered in you could tell it was going to be a good day. All the guys I had met for the first time seemed like decent blokes. As we set off I was first to sweep, primarily because I bought the sweep vest along but also because I wanted to test the new bike without some gun rider up my clacker
As we went on I was making a few changes to the bike here and there but also doing as I always do when sweep…watch the other riders, the lines they pick and how they are coping generally. From the onset it was clear that even with 14 other riders there wasnât a bad rider in the group, everyone could ride a bike, some better than others but the skills were there.
It didnât seem very long at all and we were back at the cars for a quick top up before heading off for the main loop. At this point we went to a 2 man cornerman system which did help the flow of the group.
Iâd love to tell you trails we rode on but the fact is I have no idea, I just ride and follow other people (a true KTM owning sheep I hear you Honda gay boys say :p). What I can say is that it was a great ride, which is what I have come to expect from Murph and his Murphsberg rides. The trails went from flowing single to rock infested single with tight, twisty sections, twin trail sections, long windy uphills, some with big roots and rock ledges thrown in, snotty downhills, drop-offâs and the odd creek crossing.
The breaks were slightly longer and more frequent than the hardcore Murphsberg rides but after the physical beating the 300 had given me I was appreciative.
In all it was a top day and I was well and truly rooted at the end of it, trying to ride the smoker on the pipe is something Iâve learnt not to do for more than a few seconds at a time and with pulling a pushing my own bike as well as others up the hill I slept very well that night.
Thanks to Murph for leading yet another great ride and to all those who swept for the day, well done all those who finished (unlucky the ones that didnât)….until next time!
Memorable moments as I can recall them…..
⢠Realising Iâve lost my brand new jerry can fuel of fuel
⢠Chatting with the boys whilst getting ready to roll
⢠My bike not starting on the button when we set off!
⢠Watching Murph wheelie up the hill and round the corner out of sight.
⢠Rounding the bottom of the first reasonable hill behind tf2 and Diddel and witnessing the carnage of 3 blokes trying to pick their bikes up
⢠Helping the guy up the hill with his KTM250F and my heart hitting the redline
⢠Re-grouping witht he guy that came along with Holeshot after I left him with another group of riders!!!
⢠Reddersâ Superman attempt on a rocky downhill, once Iâd parked at the bottom to help out he had sorted himself out though.
⢠Axel cutting a decent pace through the bush, a very controlled rider.
⢠Diddel cutting a decent pace through the bush on the edge of destruction (much like his bike)
⢠Watching the guy on the 530 KTM kick the hell out of it for most of the morning.
⢠Chatting with (Grant?), Axels mate as we waited on a corner having picked our way past 4 guys laying on all over a hill.
⢠Being impressed with everyoneâs effort at wave rock.
⢠Being impressed at the overall capability of the group.
⢠Being impressed at my bike.
⢠My bike draining every ounce of energy from my body.
⢠Watching Justo bin his bike in front of me. Heâs so thoughtful trying to keep me entertained.
⢠Tf2âs attempt as this tricky hill, it was a red blooded attempt and he was the only one to make it without assistance. He almost nearly back flipped his bike getting up it
⢠Diddelâs rear guard, Diddelâs atrocious wiring, Diddelâs use of an orange juice carton and duct tape to cover his air filter, Diddelâs hour meter wiring, Diddelâs lack of bolts holding his entire exhaust on, Diddelâs loose bolt (the one holding the entire exhaust on), Diddelâs loose kick starter bolt, Diddelâs very wobbly rear brake lever, broken indicator and starting the day off with a flat tyre!!
⢠Running out of the elixir of life and re-filling my Camelbak in a creek!
⢠Me wiping out on that slippery rock and seeing my brand new bike slide down on itâs side.
⢠Me doing the same thing less than 2 minutes later.
⢠Axel taking the left side and making it look easy.
⢠Tf2 making it look easy, only to ride down to see what the fuss was about and make turning his bike around look like riding an Erzberg section at the end of a long weekendâs riding
⢠Diddelâs crash in the last single trail when there was nothing in the track
⢠Finding out Holeshatâs mate hadnât got the 530 running properly but drove to the pines in a $300,000 car!!!
⢠The boring drive home via Kulnura, central mangrove and the F3November 2, 2009 at 4:07 am #159060Great pics and yarns there fellas, thanks for sharing. Looks like the kinda ride I would be best leaving the 6fiddy at home.
